So well said, cassie. And plus, no dancers. They don't need no stinkin' distractions because they've got the goods. And thanks again for the reassurances last night. Appreciated.

Philly has pretty much FINALLY Sold Out. I'm getting this message if I try to purchase two tickets: "Unable to secure seats at this time." There are still a few single seat tickets left from the ones the venue released yesterday.

Before going to see a Broadway musical, an opera at the Met or a top tier symphony orchestra or chorus I may wonder if I will like their particular interpretations, stagings, costumes, tempos, etc. I NEVER worry whether the soloist will be able to hit the notes, whether the musicians will be tired, or whether the audience will respond. Those things are a GIVEN at that level of performance. I EXPECT consistent excellence on the stage and an audience that will recognize that and be drawn in. Not true with watching many pop and rock shows. In fact, almost the opposite. I almost expect to be DISAPPOINTED with something. I expect to think, "Pretty good considering ......" or even "Ouch! How can I unhear that?" With Adam and Queen I expect only the very best. They have never given anything but. So the mic didn't work at the beginning of the song. So the curtain fell instead of swooping up. So Adam omitted a glory note he sometimes adds there. So they did not do my favorite number. So the audience wasn't into the call and response. Eh! Trivial, minor glitches. I am reminded of several times when I commented to Angelina about something outstanding that Adam had just done, and she would reply nonchalantly, "But, that's what we do!" I was coming from the perspective that what Adam was doing was so beyond what I heard other pop stars doing, it was remarkable. She was coming from the perspective that Adam is the best singer she has ever heard across any genre. She considers him a peer of the highest degree. Of course he can do that. Of course he does that. Yes, it is genius, but why would one expect anything less? Watching Adam with Queen is simultaneously a rush, a thrill and also a deep comfort and peace. It will never be anything less than phenomenal. There will be just enough little glitches or bobbles to prove it is live and they are all most probably human. Just enough to have that edge of danger and anticipation of what just might happen that Brian relishes. It will never be "meh" or "ho-hum" or "I can take it or leave it." Certainly never "OMG! What a train wreck." How refreshing to get back to performances of that level. Why do I bother with anything else?haha....exactly! and that's why I don't. ever. On the vocal side - it is either the Met or Adam for me. That's pretty much it as far as what I would spend $s on.

Good morning from California and happy 4th of July. I went to both the San Jose show and The Forum last night, and wanted to share with you a few of my impressions. For the San Jose show I took my teenage grandson and his girl friend - several years ago as a 13-year-old he went to a GNT show in San Francisco, but at that time it didn't "take" - this time it did - and he loved it. I went to The Forum show with my LA son who loves both Queen and Adam, and we had been waiting and hoping this would happen, and now it has. Both times we had balcony sets in the first level balcony - a good place to be to capture the full effect. I'm also hearing-impaired so even attending the shows was a bit risky, but seeing and hearing Adam and Queen together was worth the risk.
Both shows were fabulous, but I felt the great audience response at The Forum fueled the over all performance. Most everyone seemed really in to it. At one point I was thinking, I'm singing the same songs as Adam and at the same time - whoa!
The camaraderie and affection between the band members and Adam was definitely apparent, and the happiness seen on Brian's face was a joy to see. I had seen Queen years ago when Freddie was in his prime and it has been an experience never to be forgotten. At the time Freddie seemed to dominate everything (at least for me), so this time it was great to have Brian and Roger get their well deserved time in the spotlight - that was one of the highlights for me.
And Adam - what can I say - the fullness of this voice, his stage presence, and as always, just being Adam - I dearly love this man.
My favorites - hard to pick, but I really liked the sequence of In the Lap of the Gods, Seven Seas of Rhy, and Killer Queen.
Enjoy the rest of the concert tour - and Kamar, I'm so happy for you that you got a response from Brian

I think it's nice that the reviewers focus more on the music but no one seems to mention that Queen's performance is absolutely "live" -- I'm glad that Rog is bringing it up. Also, the light show is great. It's obvious that the production team spent some big bucks.

Why aren't some Queen fans happy that Rufus is there? Drumming is physically taxing, and what's wrong with a proud dad wanting to show off his son's considerable skills (and lend his energy to the show)? Off topic, but it would be fun to see a drum-off between famous drummers' sons - Rufus vs. Jason Bonham and Zak Starkey, for example. It's not like a vehement thing...but I think in their mind, it's already only half of Queen. Then when Rog isn't drumming...it's 1/4 Queen (even if Rog is on percussion or just vocals). I mean I understand their point but I personally like having Rufus along and it's a highlight for me to see Rog and Rufus interact.

LA was definitely a sing along audience! I loved it! Adam's mic was loud enough so it didn't detract from hearing him in all his glory!

The videos from LA are amazing! I've been a Queen fan for quite a while, and Roger & Brian have a new, playful spirit in this tour. Adam shares the spotlight with them, and it's taken the band to a whole new level. I still love and adore Freddie, he's in my heart forever, but Adam is the ultimate Queen frontman for a new chapter. I keep thinking of other Queen songs I'd love to hear Adam sing!

Thanks for your awesome recap!! ETA: [puts on mod cap for moment] Hey bb - can you also please repost this in the concert thread? Tinafea gathers recaps for the archival threads/concert front pages, and she doesn't usually also look for them on the News thread during her comb-throughs.
