Oh, I was there! Was a very, very memorable concert. I wish Q+A would move AOBTD to the Encore vs up front where they have it! It is just lost there.

Oh dear! I can't help but think about Catzmadam! She flew to LA & Vegas & she's got tickets for Melbourne, & now she'll get to see them on her own planet! Catz, you're going to be totally glambroke!!! Having seen Catzmadam in Las Vegas -- ummmmmmmmmmm she was having a really, really good time. I doubt she has any regrets. Plus she looks amazing. Great new haircut, gorgeous aqua wrap that was the perfect color at one show. No, I feel bad for anyone who does not get to see this show!

Very touching. It reminded me that I was going to tell about my older brother, a 60-year-old guitarist and lover of all things musical. While I was visiting him during the start of the QAL tour, he asked if I had any more Adam videos to show him. (He doesn't do computers, so I have made special DVDs for him over the last couple years.) He really enjoys Adam. So we watched the iHeart tour preview and the Chicago Killer Queen on my laptop in my mother's living room. As we finished, my mom sad that my brother looks like he really enjoyed it and might have been teary eyed. He confessed, he did get teary. Songs of his youth. I don't remember him being a Queen fan, but certainly he knew the music. For a couple years, my mother, who is in dementia but still living "alone" next door to my brother, has stated that she does not like to have the radio on or any music. She just prefers silence nowadays. However, she is now visiting my sister and hubby who have been playing a stack of CDs of music from Mom's youth. Sis and hubby put headphones on her because she has hearing loss, and apparently she is sitting still with complete focus listening to this music. She has the CD cases all lined up in front of her so she can look at the tracks and liner notes. Then she's ready to listen again. Also, she is a musician and quit playing the cello a few years ago (she's 87). (Yes, we are all musicians in my family.) However, my guitarist brother has somehow gotten her to take her cello to nursing homes where he enjoys playing for the old folks. She has been improvising along with him, even on songs she barely knows. She's never done improv before. What a great creative outlet and mental exercise for her--and an example of how to keep on truckin' in old age. While I was visiting one of these nursing home gigs, another lady got up front and did a soft-shoe dance routine. I love the arts! Holst, I love this post and it brought tears to my eyes. I worked in Hospice for many years and it is amazing the joy and comfort music can bring to the elderly and the sick. Thank you! My 95 year old mother who also suffers from dementia, loves to listen to the Three Tenors and Andre Rieu......of course she can't figure out how her favourite videos can fit into my IPad? But it's great to see the joy on her face that music can still evoke especially when there are many days she does not even recognize me.

brian's soapbox JULY 2014 brianmay.com/brian/brianssb/brianssbjul14a.html#09**Thu 10 Jul 14** DISCONNECTED TOURING THOUGHTS Direct link to this Amidst my chaotic thoughts this morning, my childish fascination with hyperstereos somehow never gets old. Here's a random handsome building - which just happened to be in my field of view when I woke up in a Dallas hotel room this morning. Dallas tower building stereo Baseline between shots about 20 feet. So it's a bit extreme - but I find it nicely distracting. Distracting ? Helpfully distracting because on mornings like this I am wrestling with my head - climbing that mountain back up to feeling in control and capable. Because last night in Houston, in front of one of the most wonderful audiences of our entire career, I felt unworthy. So today I can't look at the tweets - just need to refocus from inside and get back on the horse. I want those folks who come to rock with us tonight in Dallas to have the time of their lives. Of course the band is well up to that, with our truly incredible new front man Adam. But I want to be back in this room tonight knowing I gave my total best. Onwards !!! And I didn't even begin to tell you about my fabulous day with the Space Travellers ! Bri What is he referring to? If it was the problem with the guitar, why is he feeling so down about it? I wonder too? But his guitar did sound quite a bit different on FBG. He was on the Red Special. I don't know, how was his solo? I can see why his personality might mesh with Adam. Perfectionist?

Oh i'm sure Catzmadam has absolutely no regrets!!! I loved hanging out with her - she's such a hoot! One of my favorite memories is Theosgma - we all know she lost her mom a few weeks ago & had to cancel Chicago. She grabbed front row thrust tickets for LA & we had the BEST time together! Sometimes we were just holding on to each other & standing there with our mouths open. (Pictures to prove it....) Then in Vegas, she had a 2nd row seat & was promptly bumped out of it by dear dietcoke & her hubby classicoke. Her seat had been shifted to the FRONT ROW. The look on her face was PRICELESS! I was soooooo happy for her - she deserved this so much!
