OTT - Ian Thorpe who is an Australian world champion /Olympic swimmer and considered the best 400 metre swimmer of all time has come out as gay in interview with Michael Parkinson. Rumours have dogged him for years and he's also suffered from depression and alcohol / drug problems. Hopefully not having to hide or try to live a lie will help him move to a healthier place. Related back to Adam - just highlights again what a trail blazer he was and is. I know the meme is that he came out after idol in RS interview but we all know true story that he had been "out" for a decade before that.
Hoping Australia gets behind Ian and supports him after his announcement - he's a complete legend of the pool and deserves respect for his accomplishments.
I look forward to the day when people don't feel they need to announce or renounce their sexuality.
