Not a popular opinion here as I know you all LOVE it...it's a bit OTT for me...not so much that it ruins the song for me like it did some OTT Queen fans (see what I did there;) ). AND I'm REALLY glad they performed it.
I also really enjoyed the Adam-Brian interaction.
Queen always straddled the rock-theatrical thing very well. This began to slide a bit too much theatrical for my tastes but to each their own.
Vocally he handled it VERY well!

Adam's KQ must be driving a vast majority straight males into some very "uncomfortable" place ... right? perhaps that's what makes it OTT for you, Talon?
I was sitting next to a Ukrainian couple at MS1, in their 40s, the husband, very macho type, was a casual Queen fan since he was 19...(He knew the songs but didn't know that Deacon had left the band...)...he was very enthusiastic, danced, clapped, cheered, sang along...except for KQ.....during which he went all quiet, grabbed his wife's hand, sat down, then stood back up... I could sense his "confusion"...the moment Adam got to the "spitting" though his enthusiasm and energy returned...
I wonder if anyone here could share their DH's reactions to KQ ...
As for me - consistently the FIRST recording I look for after each concert! It is so obvious Adam loves it! He even got Brian to "act" a little!
and then the music, the singing, Brian's little solo part... a PURE GEM all around!

I attended Chicago, so I had no idea they would even perform KQ, much less as they did. When Adam sprawled out on the chaise, it was one of the times I spontaneously laughed out loud, it was so OTT absurd. Maybe there were some straight guys who were uncomfortable, but I think a lot of them got it, and got the humor in it.

I watched (and was involved in) plenty of OTT camp-activities. That stuff doesn't "bother" me or make me feel "uncomfortable" in the slightest. I mean I was definitely not uncomfortable - maybe it just was kind of overshadowing the song a bit for me? *shrug*

I loved it precisely because it was soooo OTT. Rather than overshadowing the song, for me it gave a precise interpretation and featured what I imagine was Freddie's wonderful sense of humor. When I saw Freddie sing it while playing the piano, the words did not come alive like they do when Adam camps it up.

It was the totally conscious outrageousness that captivated me. So clear that Adam was witnessing how OTT he was and laughing along with us.

Yup We all have different views! I mean I didn't hate it And Freddie might have loved it for all I know. I prefer Freddie playing the piano if only because I love his rhythmic, percussive playing!

This one is so difficult to choose from - they're all great performances. I always felt that Adam not only sings this song, but acts out every lyric to tell the story in the song. It's his theatrical showpiece, and a showcase for his ability to sing from EVERY pose imaginable: half-reclining, stretched out on his back, on his stomack, on his side, while doing sit-ups, with his leg in the air... lol ... Interpretatively, he gives such nuance to the meaning of the words, like when he makes his voice operatic for the word "baroness" in the line: "she spoke just like a baroness" - this accomplishes 2 things at the same time: 1. he is conveying how she spoke, imitating her in a way, and 2. making fun of that sort of pretentious speech. Another example, which was quite unexpected, was when he started making that slight pause between "guaranteed to blow your... mind", coupled of course with his facial expression - it's hilarious, but he manages not to make it tacky or crude. Not surprising: the boy knows his camp; he never crosses the line into "too much", he always gives it "just enough", even when it's way over the top. (Just my opinion, of course, other people may have thought it was too much - especially those partial to Freddie, like talon or those who don't get camp.)
