I am neither for or against tattoos in general and yes they can be tacky but I appreciate that every single one of Adam's tattoos has deep meaning to him even if he never completely explains that to us. He has demonstrated that he always has a reason for all of the tattoos that he gets. I don't really think the tattoos are to cover up freckles as the very first one he got was on the inner wrist where there are no or very few freckles. He has also repeatedly talked about loving the artwork of tattoo sleeves. He's not just willy nilly drawing crap on his body but he is painting a story on his body that has meaning to him. A permanent record of important aspects of his life. That in itself is beautiful to me. I think you're right and I don't disagree that it's beautiful in that way. But he's young & I'm sure will have many more tattable experiences in his life. Where will he put them? People's self identification can change as they grow older & tattoos are so PERMANENT. I know a couple who were total hippies in their youth. Now they're conservative republicans. LOL Funny thing - on twitter the vast majority are loving the idea of more tatts. Here it seems to be the reverse. I'm not loving the idea of another sleeve but it's his body & his choice and certainly not a deal breaker. ❤ Edited to say - there's nothing I can think of that WOULD be a deal breaker.

Noreaster -- signed: "People with eyes."
Too funny!
Maybe the new tat is a hint re A3 -- that would seem to be meaningful.
eta: Do any of us REALLY care that Adam likes ink? No, but it's fun to discuss especially during the doldrums.

My son is Adam's age, he has tats and most of his friends do too, both men and women. It's a very common form of self expression for their generation. I asked my son about it and not only is it the design, there is also meaning in the process. My son did place his tats where a shirt would cover them so as not to offend the sensibilities of "old folks" when he's in the office. (he is a software engineer) It does remind me a bit about how uptight older generations were when guys started having long hair back in the day. I can still hear "you look like a girl" nahhh, not the same ... had the tattoos been temporary I would've had no problem with them... but I agree - it's the "cool, IN" look, especially in his circles, and as we know Adam is a slave to fashion... I am grateful my kids (so far) are dead against tats, although if they wanted a small one I wouldn't mind ...it's the large ones that irritate me - look like "dirt", I see no beauty in them at all... mine are about 10 years younger than Adam - may be the tide is turning for the next generation? I also haven't noticed any of their friends tattooing themselves... keeping my fingers crossed. I LOVE HIS NEW HAIR! so sweet....

Changing the topic from tattoos for a minute, during this slow time I started a new thread in the Vocal Masterclass. For those of you afraid to dip your toe into those threads because you think you have to be an expert in music and singing, it's not true! And this one is particularly accessible to all. Check it out. adamtopia.com/post/531041/thread

OT but while A3 might have been delayed I may have reason to celebrate this year after all. Rumblings are that U2 has finished their album (won't believe it til it hits the stores) and it will come out this year and tour dates are being approved. Which is par for the course since I spent all my money on Adam the U2 tickets will surely go on sale while I am still broke. LOL

It's interesting people's reaction to tattoos. I would never have EVER imagined me with a tat but I guess Adam inspired me to #dowhateverthehelliwanted and I did a hummingbird on the inside of my wrist/arm area last October. When I went to the doctor recently and the assistant started drawing blood she said, "You have a tattoo! I would never have thought you would have a tattoo!" LOL! I think people I come in contact with are surprised when they notice my tattoo....makes me smile!

I also love that each one has a deep meaning to him. None are just a "cool design or pic" to him. I think the placement of this new tattoo even shows that he is VERY happy with his body at this time. It is perfectly placed to accentuate that left bicep! Will look hot as f*ck with those leather vests on! ETA: Bamafan! I typed that ^^ before I read your post! Yes to highlighting that bicep!! funny how perceptions differ.... to me it looks like his arm was cut off and sewed back on, like a big ugly scar.... ok, I promise to stop tattoo hate comments and to go back to </img> mode

One of the reasons Adamtopia is so special...so many talented memebers. I don't want to think about the tat and more tats so what ever happens, happens. I am assuming it is a generational thing, but I do love the freckles.

I have two tats I got around 1990 when I was 40 ... Midlife crisis ? Lol. One is a gecko on my shoulder blade, the other a crane (bird) on my upper thigh. Both covered by clothing. I have always wanted to get more, and more visible, tattoos, but DH''s reaction was so negative that I've refrained. Both of our sons have tattoos. One just has one, also hidden. The younger, who was in the army, has 5 or 6 and was planning to get a half-sleeve but hasn't done it yet. His girlfriend has a large and beautiful arm tattoo. I love them and it's always interesting to visit different places and notice the presence or absence of tattoos on people of different ages. I am living vicariously through Adam's tattoos, I guess. I like them and am interested to see ow the new one develops. But yeah, no neck or facial tattoos please!
