I have a question, that has probably already been answered! I get that IWBTLY is a big deal for Adam's fans because it is a new song with amazing vocals. But why was it a big deal for the band in Osaka? Have they performed it full band before or not? Ok quick history! I Was Born To Love You - written and recorded for Freddie's solo project Mr. Bad Guy which was released in 1985. As such it was never performed live by Freddie. In 1995 when the band was compiling Made In Heaven, they decided to re-use two vocal tracks from Bad Guy (IWBTLY and Made In Heaven) and rework/rearrange them to Queenify them. In 2004 I Was Born To Love You became a semi-decent size hit in Japan after it was used in a television series/commercial. THUS in 2005 when QPR went to Japan it was performed for the first time ever as the first song of the encore but only as Brian on acoustic guitar and vocals on the first verse and Roger singing the rest (with Brian on harmony chorus backing vocals). So until Korea there had never been an attempt to play the full version. It is big in Asia simply because it was a hit in Asia and not anywhere else: Sorry it's audio only! This song has an odd history. This was originally a late era disco song -- and was released as a single in 1985. UK #11, US #76. It was the lead single for Mr. Bad Guy and was promoted in Europe and the US. Oddly it was not promoted in Japan were it later became a hit. Queen's reworked version of the song was released in 1995 and was used in two TV commercials in Japan -- including by Kirin in 1996. They released the rock version as a single only in Japan in 1996 where it charted. It was repopularized in 2004 when it was used for the theme song on Pride (a Japanese TV drama). But by then it was well known. There are two music videos -- the disco one and the 1995 Queen rock version video.

Also it is interesting to note that in order for Brian to make it sound like the band had recorded it together (that was the intent), he added in a few other clips - from A Kind of Magic and from Freddie's solo track Living On My Own for the jam ending...it worked quite well too!

Ahhhh, thank you! So all the comparisons to how Freddie did it are to the music video or recorded version, then? ??? Yup. My understanding is there is actually only one recording of Freddie singing it in the studio. The variations come from post production. Based on the info from Mack (the producer), there are multiple vocal recordings of this song from the Mr. Bad Guy recording sessions. It sounds like this is all the same vocal track but many of Freddie's recording takes are hard for me to distinguish -- and some radically different. I do not know if anyone every has specifically talked about what they used for the Queen rock version vs. the original. All the disco remixes were from the same vocal recording used in the 1985 MBG recording. Talon may know because he has much deeper knowledge than me of late Queen.
