Just have to put in my 2 cents worth regarding the impact of Adam singing Mad World on American Idol in season 8.......I was sitting in my living room, folding some clothes, when it was Adam's turn to sing. Since he had mesmerized me from his first note in his audition, I eagerly awaited his performance that evening-and, of course, he was the last one singing that night. I had never heard the song before- but those lyrics pierced my heart as I thought of all of my students throughout my years of teaching who felt isolated, different, faceless and forlorn. And I looked into the beautiful eyes of the singer on that stage, sitting on a stool, and I knew he wasn't just singing a song-he was pouring out his soul. Such a simple delivery in a haze of blue; he made me hope, deep down in my heart, that I hadn't "looked through" any of my precious students who had sat before me in my classroom.I had tears in my eyes before Si mon eve uttered a word...And,to my surprise, even before the song was over, I noticed my husband-never an American Idol watcher, had stopped his reading and stood by me, speechless, during this magical performance. Because, that's exactly what it was-a song with a profound message that so many can relate to, performed by a young man who innately knows the power of his gift. And that is why Mad World is simply unforgettable. Love your words Lorraine !! I was working in my home office with AI on and my adult son, like your husband not a watcher, stopped what he was doing and we both were mesmerized. Mad World was a brilliant arrangement. If I Can't Have You was another emotional moment for me. Like everyone, I love him

I love that gif of Adam before his ice bucket challenge but all the gifs are creating a problem for me. Now that so many people are using them as an avi it's actually stopping me from reading the news thread. The last few days the only way I could read the news thread was to boot up my old Windows 7 laptop which can't cope with lots of videos on the same page but doesn't seem to have any problem with gifs. I don't dare open one of talons Queen thread pages with that laptop as it will take about 5 minutes to load and then probably crash. My chromebook has no problem with 30 videos on one page but creates blank squares randomly throughout the news posts making them impossible to read if there are multiple gifs. I asked a few days ago and it appeared that only 1 other person was having the same problem. I just tested multiple animated GIFs on a page on a Chromebook and had no issue -- although animated GIF lag on Chrome browsers on all devices. Firefox and Safari are best at handling them. The Chromebook only works with Chrome, so you have to be patient and wait for them to load. Even then they will be stuttery. > Make sure you have a current browser version. > Make sure that you do not have a lot of temporary internet files -- clear the cache. Here are directions for how to delete these files: www.verizonwireless.com/support/devices/knowledge_base.html/38523/If you delete the cookies, you will lose automatic logons -- you may wish to leave them. > Also Windows 7 laptop should not have any issue with multiple videos on a page unless it has very little available memory OR the browser is not maintained OR you have some crud on your computer -- extra addons that are chewing up resources.

Yes... I'm using Windows 7 on a laptop (Chrome for a browser), and multiple videos or dozens of gifs give me no problems whatsoever!

Thanks everyone for all the tips! I actually just solved the problem by going to my settings and selecting not to show avatars, so please don't get rid of your avi gifs. If I want to check out a new avi, I'll just go to my old Windows computer and look without logging in. I'll try to 'clear the cache' later today and see if the the problem goes away. The problem with my Windows laptop I think is that it's just old and running out of memory. Thanks again for the advice and help.
