Good morning, I as was driving to work today...(listening to Adam of course) I got to thinking about how many emotions are incorporated in a song. They us make happy , sad, tell us stories, induce us to dance...no matter our lack of dancing skills...lol...comfort us and so much more. So I wrote this little verse in my head on the way in. I would like to share it with you...it makes me think of music which makes me think of Adam, funny how most things make me think of Adam;)
A song Hold me close to your heart And whisper in my ear, Tell me of your dreams And of those that you hold dear. Transport me and sunshine Bathe me in your rain, Dance with me at evening Speak to me of fame. Wrap me in your sadness Lift me up at dawn , Comfort and caress me My friend... my love...a song.

Update: I'm writing again, yay! *** And here's one of my poems for rosepetal - it's about a poet In the Middle of NowhereThere's an old road In the middle of nowhere - A path of wisdom and regret. I've been walking, It seems like forever. Maybe this journey has no end? You can find me In the middle of nowhere, Chasing dreams of golden sunsets. I won't get lost, No matter how I fare, While I remain true to myself. There's an answer Waiting for me somewhere Beyond horizon's silver edge. I'll cross the dawn And look to the future, Bright with promise of a new day. 'Cause I am just a poet, Wandering; Nothing but a loner Searching for the truth. Oh, I need an answer To that eternal question: What lies beyond the horizon? What lies beyond? I need to know. What is there over yonder? I need to find my own answers: What lies beyond the horizon?

To all: This is my poem for the day, for no reason other than the difference Adam has made in my ability to cope day to day.
I float listless , Mindless . Crashing first to wave Then to shore . Grasping . Hoping. Needing more. Time flies by on gilded wings , Bringing with it better things . Love. Joy. And silent grace , Memories a life time makes. I stand. My foothold strong, And cast my lot in to the throng Of everyday and everyone Tears fall my journey done, The sky turns a mystic blue I stand in awe. For I've found u.

Oh, I need an answer To that eternal question: What lies beyond the horizon? What lies beyond? I need to know. What is there over yonder? I need to find my own answers: What lies beyond the horizon? Ahhh ... this is reminding me of Brian's "Last Horizon" solo, in such a good way. Thank you, toramenor, for sharing it, and for the VERY good news that you are writing again -- WOOFRIGGINGHOO!!! My own practice of quiet time and writing has been knocked out of the water this week by an unexpected trip to help my dad out with a bit of a medical crisis, followed by a sudden dense wet snow back home that has made a wreck of every deciduous tree in my neighbourhood, which is full of mature trees. Well, all the deciduous trees except the willows -- such a potent metaphor for the virtue of flexibility! Your poem echoes for me thoughts I had while flying home, watching snow streak past the light from the engine outside my window like tiny comets or large electrons ... earlier, before the sun had set and the snow set in, we'd had a gorgeous view of quilted farmland out the window and I was suddenly struck anew by the preposterousness of airplane flight, of how one is suspended like that in mid-air in several tons of metal, but also suspended between one Here and another Here. It's a liminal space that I love ... I love being on bridges for the same reason, and in waiting rooms. Here's a poem I wrote that I thought originally was just about getting lost (I have NO sense of direction), but turned out to be about my love of those neither-here-nor-there places: DreamscapeIn this dream the wind is strong but warm and I am lost as usual. I am lost so often it’s become another kind of home, a place to rest while the wind pushes the landscape past.

For I've found u. rosepetal, thanks for being such an inspiration! I love the phrases "silent grace" and "the throng/ of everyday and everyone". There certainly are times when it's hard to do more than drift, isn't it? But as much as I love the in-between places, I know they're only respites, not where I should live out my life -- I'd regret that. I think something in me responds to the way Adam is so very whole-hearted about pretty much everything he does. You get tired and hurt that way and sometimes make big mistakes right out in public, but man, it must give you a life you feel you really lived rather than one in which you mostly tried to stay safe, eh?

Thank you all for bringing so much wonderful things to the after hours! And rosepetal, I love your songlyrics! augenpoesie, I just love this -- thank you! I'd love to hear how you happened upon these markings in the sand and knew how to frame them so eloquently. The way you've captured this scene, the tracks look like a sort of Rosetta stone for birds, or a frieze you might find in the tomb of a bird Pharoah, recounting his exploits. Did you add the flower or was it already there? I love the way your photos show us how much beauty and depth is always around us if we only know how to stop and look. They are visual poems.

Thank you for this song, too, rosepetal -- you're right about how much a song can convey and more than communicate. You've also helped me feel it in a slightly different way, as you have the song whispering to us and dancing with us. I have often thought I was dancing TO songs, but now that you've put it this way I realize that there have also been moments when I was dancing WITH songs -- and those were the best moments.
