Lelemaple: When you come to know Adam better, you will gain an appreciation as to why the GLAMBERTS have been such avid fans since early 2009. As a result of the Queen collaboration, I have become a fan of Queen. I was not aware of Roger's deafness, and knowing that, it has helped me understand why he continues drumming long beyond the end of a song. Another issue I had with Queen was the band playing too loud and covering up Adam's vocals. That has changed and they are performing more in sync with each other now. Roger is even ending more in sync with Adam. I have 90% of Queen's catalog in my iTunes library. I would love to have "Love Kills" and "I Was Born To Love You" with Adam on vocals on a cd. I'm listening to those songs by Freddie but I would love to have the Adam versions to listen to in my car on the way to work. COUNSELOR, I'm not sure that Roger's hearing loss leaves him deaf. He said he has hearing aids, as do many older folks who are not deaf. I feel very sure that he can hear what he is doing on drums and singing. It would be near impossible to sing in tune without being able to hear. I guess I'm not aware of him playing long after the end of a song. Most of their songs have gigantic cut-offs where Adam often poses with his arm in the air and Roger often stands up for the last big crash. However, I do know that percussionists often tap on their instruments when a song is not being performed. They have what I'd call "twitchy" bodies--tap, tap, thump, thump. They feel rhythms all the time and often times look like they are nervous. Roger is not deaf -- he has some hearing loss in the higher frequencies and it is corrected with hearing aids that you can't see. I find it very funny/odd that vision correction is completely accepted but hearing enhancement has a stigma associated with it. Do I care that Picasso had to wear glasses when he got older? Roger is considered one of the best drummers in the world and with a couple exceptions -- like the mangled Under Pressure in Philly did not have many synch issues with Adam. Regarding Adam's voice being drowned out -- there were some sound mix problems early in the tour -- most notably on NIH and SCC and in Chicago. But some of Queen's hard rock songs are not about the vocals and are about loud, crashing rock music. It is what it is and perhaps not to everyone's taste. SCC is a heavy metal, proto punk song -- and it really is about a sonic effect.

My mother has high-frequency hearing loss and refuses to deal with it. When she first heard he had hearing aides (they've been divorced for decades), she gasped and said "so old." So we have to talk really loudly to Mom and she thinks she hears what's going on. I, for one, am going to deal with hearing loss in the same way I dealt with getting glasses--JUST DO IT. If my teeth go bad, I get them fixed too. What does it matter how old we are?

We either get "old" or we're dead. Given the option, I chose "old".
