Has anyone commented yet on Adam's choice of words here? It would appear, that for the length of the tour at least, Adam DID consider himself part of the band rather than just a "guest."

On the front page of the New York Times ( www.nytimes.com/ ) in the TimesVideo section is a short video homage to Joan Rivers. In it is a spot from Fashion Police at about 2:05 where she makes some joke about the Kardashians in which she says, "why couldn't she have brought Adam Lambert ..." and I can't understand the rest so I don't know if it is a joke on him as well. Maybe someone else can tell. But there his name is, bold as brass. |

How can I go into withdrawal so quickly? Adam isn't even back in LA yet, is he? In any case, now that the tour has wrapped, let's talk about the individual songs. Over at the vocal masterclass thread we have started the conversation. There is a separate thread for each song in the set. You can comment or ask questions, as we have been doing. Additionally, tho', I would like us to create a "best of" playlist, choosing one or two renditions from the tour that we consider to be the best vocally, the most entertaining, the best quality video, or the most unusual, or whatever criteria you consider for "best." Please review the shows and post a YT of your favorite in the individual song threads. Clearly intentional -- and I do not believe that he would have tweeted that if he did not feel he had "permission" to refer to himself as part of the band. I think he earned it. The other interesting thing is to see the major rock writers continue to compare Adam + the remaining members of Queen to Brian Johnson and ACDC. And that is a huge compliment. (ACDC formed in 1973, their lead singer Bon Scott died on February 19, 1980. They auditioned singers and hired Brian Johnson and then went in the studio and created "Black on Black" which sold 50 million copies worldwide. It is the rock fairytale.) No one is expecting Q+AL to repeat the ACDC story, my only point is that to see these comparisons to the ACDC history come up means that rock critics (the ones that matter) see this as a success -- and that is huge for Adam. Also the Queen + billing which is perfect for Queen fans -- also means that Adam ended up with uniquely prominent billing for a lead singer in a rock band. It is not The Rolling Stones + Mick Jagger. So he got secondary but solo artist billing. And that is a great thing. The billing also lead to some clueless audience members believing that Adam was opening the show for Queen. Still makes me smile. |

WHAT A SUMMER...WHAT A TOUR. but now I am ready to move to the next phase...
PASSING THOUGHT..
When Adam or whomever mentioned that the new A# is only half way done a while ago..
Could it possibly be that his songs are completed and now they need to be set w music and recorded for the finishes touches??? selecting CD cover, photo shoots, as well as setting up gigs for his release//
When Shoshanna tweeted his song was (paraphrasing) as I can't remember for shit. that she was listening to Adam's song and it was off the hook...Possibly the new single has been chosen?
Maybe his label has decided to make the move shorthly, releasing the single for the christmas season. Yes it will be crowded from other top artists but I believe he can compete w them.
IDK I'm just hoping its soonish rather than 2015..

In July (Ryan Seacrest interview) he indicated that he was closer to done. All we know for sure is.... 1. He is headed back into the studio to finish his album starting in September, in LA.

If they did that it would be terrible -- no time for promo, no time to build a single, no time to get the CD into stores, it would be a digital only dump. Way too much money invested in this album for that. Also Adam and DMG are too smart for that. The recording process does not work like you described above -- so no not possible. And Adam tweeted that the album was about half written --which could mean that he completed demo recordings for about half the songs that are going on the album. I am "happy" to wait for 2015 so that it can be the way he wants it and properly promoted.
MY INTERPRETATION OF WHERE THIS ALBUM IS: The Sweden time was for songwriting -- they would have written songs and recorded demos. September is the actual album recoding sessions -- and it seems like he has some more songwriting to do. He is almost certainly getting pushed to get this done now. The label has a lot invested in those Sweden sessions, paid Adam part of his advance, etc. Adam and Shosh both use the term FINISH the album. So he must have a deadline. |
