Katy's fragrance was released last year. This synopsis is kind of funny, to me, because i thought Killer Queen was about a "Queen," not an actual woman! It was reported in December 2012, that Perry had teamed up with beauty products giant, Coty, to produce a line of fragrance.[2] Killer Queen is named after the song of the same name by Queen, and Katy Perry herself has revealed that she drew inspiration from Freddie Mercury. Perry told Women's Wear Daily that “Killer Queen has been in my vocabulary since I was 15, because of the song ‘Killer Queen’ by Queen. Freddie Mercury painted the lyrics of this woman who I wanted to be. She seemed very powerful, and she captivated a room when she walked in. I named my company Killer Queen after those lyrics. I feel like, after all this time, it was appropriate to use that name in association with something I did. I feel like I’m falling, finally, into that woman Freddie painted.”[3] Killer Queen was described as a playful, sophisticated, powerful, edgy and delicious fragrance, that reflects the rebellious spirit of the singerI always thought Killer Queen was about a high priced hooker LOL

I've read both descriptions and both contributed to Freddie.

SOS!!!Q3 and I are waving the white flag of surrender. RL commitments are making it impossible for us to complete the recaps in a timely manner. But rather than have them remain incomplete we are asking for your help. We need volunteers to gather worthy photos and tweets to put in the recap. We need help with the Australia and New Zealand shows. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take one of those shows and choose the photos and tweets you think are a good representation of that show. PM me (tinafea) if you can help us out and I will explain what needs doing. Some shows may have some pics already up but more is better I will continue to gather the videos. Please consider helping us. We want these Recaps to be good and something we can revisit in the years to come. Thanks, tinafea and Q3

Just like Jared appreciates and is grateful that he had to get better, one of the things I appreciate the most and am immensely grateful for regarding Adam - that he is so hard-working and willing to keep getting better. This whole journey with him is one amazing and delightfully intense buildup. And when he tweeted that the third time is going to be the charm, I didn't feel it as any kind of slight towards FYE and Trespassing, but I believe what he meant was exactly that: that the third album is going to be better, in a sense that it is going to be a reflection of his personal and professional development, improvement and betterment. Plus, we concur: FYE was great, Trespassing was greater, and A3 is going to be the greatest:) Cannot wait:) Hey Aleks, thanks for your most recent essay and thoughts. This paragraph reminded me of that little ditty. Good, better, best. May you never rest. Til your good is better And your better best. One of the many things I admire about Adam is his willingness to change things up in all sorts of areas, try new interpretations, laugh at his mistakes, but always, it seems to me, with the desire to get better. I believe he takes his voice and singing very seriously, but I am so glad that he does not seem to take himself too seriously. I love the fact that he is willing to post that recent instagram pic of himself and say jetlag. He really does make me giggle!

I feel like I’m falling, finally, into that woman Freddie painted.”[3] Killer Queen was described as a playful, sophisticated, powerful, edgy and delicious fragrance, that reflects the rebellious spirit of the singerThe funniest thing about this to me is that Freddie said "Killer Queen" was about a high class call girl. It may also had a double meaning and be about an OTT queen. Either way, it is really odd that Katy Perry says this is the kind of woman she wanted to be when she was 15. In the New Musical Express November 2, 1974, the song's writer Freddie Mercury elucidates on this song: "It's about a high class call girl. I'm trying to say that classy people can be whores as well. That's what the song is about, though I'd prefer people to put their interpretation upon it - to read into it what they like."
Never confirmed by Freddie or anyone else from Queen, but it seems almost certain to me that Freddie wrote "Killer Queen" intending it to have a double meaning. The term "queen" referring to flamboyant, effeminate or just generally to gay men was in use for at least 10 years by 1974 when this song was released. And certainly everyone associated with the band knew the meaning of the word Queen. In the 1974 performances of the song, an example below, I really don't think Freddie clearly was singing about a woman. Queen - Killer Queen (1974) (Dutch TV version)youtu.be/iCcbZWx7XXQ

<comes in humming, swinging mod hat by its strings> Huh, looks like I missed some stuff today! Ah well, another discussion for a different day. Don't be too hard on cassie guys, that particular topic always seems to cause angst, and she was trying to avoid the inevitable hard feelings and keep the board happy. That said, perhaps on another day (or maybe in the one of the new discussion threads) we can revisit. AS LONG as everyone is respectful of everyone's sure-to-be-variable opinion (winks at the membership). <grins evily> Just give the mods a chance to put on some Teflon armor and heat-protective undies! Love ya guys!
