I try to keep the purely Queen things in the Queen thread but I know a number of you have preordered Live at the Rainbow 74....Mine shipped today (I got the deluxe set) but then I realized that I could get the discs on Autorip from Amazon........Well I couldn't wait. I'm almost done with Disc 1...March 1974 gig. I am in love. Just in love. The best Queen release since 1995. Just wow. White Queen...ahhhhhhhh....Great King Rat, Jailhouse Rock...just so good and a band at their rawest and hungriest. Just so good. Ok continue Ok, does this mean I should now take the Live at the Rainbow set OUT of my "save for later" amazon shopping cart and actually finish purchasing the thing?

I am off so I know what I will be doing that day. I saw the half hour preview the other day and I was blown away. I can't wait to see the rest. My brother texted me the other night and all he said was "holy shit it's good." I totally agree! What an amazing restore; it's spectacular.

I bet Adam will go see this! ~ Virg ~ virg1877 4m David Bowie Documentary to Screen in the U.S. www.rocksquare.com/community/musicnews/4412 … @adamlambert you may enjoy this In select theaters for 1 night 9/23The touring exhibition “David Bowie is,” which first took over London’s Victoria and Albert Museum last year, will be touching down in Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art on September 23rd and remaining on display in the Windy City through the rest of 2014. But that’s the only place in the U.S. the massive Bowie retrospective will visit – American Bowie diehards need not despair in too tragic a fashion, though, because a documentary about the popular exhibition will screen in U.S. theaters on the same day Chicago takes official temporary ownership of the career-spanning show. “This documentary brings to life how David Bowie embraced creativity from a variety of fields including performance art, music, dance, theater, and the visual arts, and fostered collaborations with artists of all kinds throughout his life," said Michael Darling, Museum of Contemporary Art's chief curator. “We are fortunate to have this film's debut coinciding with the MCA’s opening of this extraordinary exhibition.” The exhibition, which broke attendance records at the Victoria and Albert Museum, brings together over 300 objects from Bowie’s life and career, including such artifacts as: Ziggy Stardust bodysuits, album sleeve artwork, excerpts from films and live performances, set designs, storyboards, sketches, musical scores, and diary entries. Chicago will have the exhibit until January 4th, but the film will be screening on the night of September 23rd only. Check out the embedded player below for info about screening locations. Preview vid here: www.rocksquare.com/community/musicnews/4412They play Bowie's FAME throughout the short promo. Oh, I have tickets for this show in Chicago! Can't wait.

Aww, you are all so sweet. Thank you everyone. I'm just a little one of these, amongst so many here, who contribute so much more. All the threads that are done look sooooo beautiful. About A3, I agree the secrecy is linked to the launch - it is something out of the ordinary, something in the vein of Beyonce's simply dropping her new music unexpectedly, but not exactly this. Whatever it is, it will be exciting and in a different league to the past dull-as-dishwater marketing approaches taken by RCA. For some reason, my gut tells me that Adam has even more control over this project in terms of creative and business approaches than previously. Have no idea why. It will again have a theme because he likes to present vignettes within a holistic context, or more simply tell a story, but who knows what that will be this time. Nothing about Adam is linear, which is one of the things that is so fascinating about him. I have known a few truly gifted people in my life, some artistic, others intellectually and the characteristic that defines them is that their development and expression is asynchronous, because of the depths of what is available to them. Having observed Adam over the years, the fact that he took time to 'grow into' himself as a man (a self-described 'late bloomer') and as an artist is not unusual. It reflects the complexity of his nature and his artistry and the time and discipline it can take to focus self-expression within the narrower path that is demanded by business. His natural tendency is to expand, not limit. To me his is juggling a number of gifts - obviously the artistic/creative one; more subtly this is seen in his so-called perfectionism. What this is generally saying in terms of expressing this gift is that he finds it difficult to draw a box around something and stop because he can see and feel so many other possibilities and it is difficult to make a choice about the 'best' because the other options, in many cases are equally as good. Maybe Pharrell was teaching him about trusting one point in time and what happens in that particular moment, rather than needing to do endless takes. I think most of us can clearly see that he is emotionally gifted - highly gifted - and it can be so hypersensitive that it can become painful - and it can take years to be able to learn how to ground yourself and detach yourself from the feelings of others, and to manage what can be a constant 'overload' of sensory input. I believe he was expressing this gift most clearly in Broken Open. It is also expressed by his desire to connect and not to harm, but rather to enhance, find a more loving and positive path through life. He definitely has intellectual gifts, although this is not reflected in academic excellence. One hint, of course is his highly-developed visual memory where he has said that he never forgets a face, and visual artistic expression - his dream of a gold set design for the Queen production, his vision for GNT, his love of 'dress up'. Gifted children can often be mis-diagnosed as 'hyperactive'; and when this is the case, most often they are just incredibly bored because they perceive and simply know things in a different way to the 'norm' and unfortunately most of society is geared towards developing the equivalent of human 'widgets'. I could go on and on and am now way off topic, so perhaps I am in the wrong thread .....
