We have actually been members of the European Union since 1973 but we retained our own currency rather than adopting the euro (as have a few other member states). We also have elections for Members of the European Parliament. europa.eu/about-eu/countries/index_en.htmlol u jist made me wis gonna say embarrassed ,, but ive an excuse the nicht You certainly have!!! you go for it

They are separate political and economic entities, much as Canada and the United States which also occupy the same continent. The United Kingdom has not joined the European Union and I doubt it will. Plus there is an historical and language divide. also, and less scientifically, UK is an island, and I don't think it has ever been considered a part of Europe. Europe is commonly known as the continent where France, Germany, Spain, Belguim, Netherlands (is that the same as Belguim?) Italy, and former Eastern Block countries, etc. are. It is much too late, and I am far too tired to properly explain Europe / European union. Wikipedia does a pretty good job, btw, for anyone who is interested. But let me just say: the Netherlands is definitely not the same as Belgium. Granted, we are two small small countries, who in part speak the same language, but not the same. And the UK is sort of the odd one out, because they are important to Europe, but they're an island, and want to drive on the left, keep their own currency etc. Just bloody stubborn, those chaps. Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't y'all come over here next year, and we Europeans will try to explain who we are over a beer, or a wine, or a grapefruit cocktail?? Maybe see some Adam and Queen while you're here anyway???
And squee!!! QAL is coming to Europe! I might be able to douse myself in that magic again!! Fingers crossed for a date (or dates!!) near me.

Looks like my question is spawning more questions. According to maps, UK is STILL considered to be part of Europe (a continent, which includes islands and island nations, such as UK and Iceland). I think the answer of why people (Queen) were saying UK and European tour is to confirm that there will be performances in the UK. ETA: Ok, you Europeans can stop giggling at us geographically challenged Americans. :D

Bri pic.twitter.com/leBAgRptFy Yes, and I freaking slept through it because one of my dogs had been ill and getting me up in the night several times for three nights in a row. Then this. Dammit. I've been living here on the remote Maine coast for 11 years and still haven't seen the Northern Lights. I'm reminding myself I hadn't seen a moose in the first ten years, either, and then one day, driving down our two-lane Route One highway at 10 in the morning...a moose. Young male, wandering back and forth. It was like a mirage. Connection to Adam? I haven't seen him in real life, either! I haven't seen a moose either in 14 years. If I look north to the Aurora, all I see is trees in my way. I'd have to find an open space to see this sight.
