blaky - WELCOME!
Hope you don't mind telling us how you discovered Adam and us (atop).
I know this thread is pretty much dead and probably not many would read this, but I wanted to address this properly.
I've been a fan of Queen for a long time - the greatest band to ever record music as far as I'm concerned. I found out about the QAL tour from YouTube ads. I was probably watching something Queen related at the time, but it's funny because I remember QAL videos coming up in the related links and intentionally avoiding them. I love Freddie Mercury's voice and I was looking for videos of the original Queen.
Anyways, I saw an ad for the QAL concert and looked into it and indeed there were tickets, but due to personal circumstances I initially decided not to go. Partly it was financial, but I had also seen them with Paul Rogers in 2006 in Toronto, so that had been checked off (seeing Queen live). Besides, while the show with PR was good, the place wasn't even close to full and the crowd kind of sucked. I guess they've never been as big in North America, and due to the poor reception they didn't come back for another show with PR after they released their collab album. I wished I could go to Europe (UK) and see them under better circumstances. So, I wasn't going to go to QAL, but I decided to check out this Adam Lambert guy anyway. I looked up some videos of him, doing his own music, and, well, the rest is history...
The music is so great. I listen to both albums all the time. All the songs. (Ok, usually I skip No Boundaries, and sometimes NCOE, but the rest is all good). I don't need to mention how talented and what a great singer he is - it's been said many times by those more eloquent. I also really like the person. He's got loads of personality and that goes a long way. ("Hello, hello, personality!"
) It comes through in the music and is part of what makes it so good. It has attitude and it's not generic crap (gross understatement).
One of the reasons I like Queen is that their music is never boring. As has been discussed on here they cover multiple genres on every single album and they do it in such an awesome way. Adam has that element too. It is rare for me to get through entire albums and enjoy every song, but it happens with FYE and Trespassing and it makes me so happy to have found Adam.
Oh, and he's such a pleasure to watch live.
It's great to live in the age of YouTube where I can find pretty much any performance I want and watch it any time, also thanks to all these dedicated fans.
After I discovered how awesome Adam is I had to go see QAL and I got a ticket to the second Toronto show. It was great. I had a lot of fun and I'm really glad that I did it. Now I'm really looking forward to Adam's solo tour. I'll definitely be going to that one.
As for atop, I came across it during my Adam related
obsessing information gathering. What made me pay more attention to it was the mentions in Aleks' blog (which is really good, as I'm sure most here already know). I joined because I needed somewhere to share my Adam musings as I don't know any other Glamberts personally. This place is great for that.
And that's the story... Sorry about the long essay, but I guess I needed to get it out. Looking forward to many fun hours
wasted enjoyed on atop.
