Adam Lambert...the modern edgy artist with an old rock soul.
this sounds so much like Janis Joplin's "Take another piece of my heart"?? Did Queen do this first?
I like it too. And you are right...it really does sound like Joplin's "Take Another Piece Of My Heart"! I'm not sure which was first.
ETA:
From Wiki:
""Piece of My Heart" is a romantic love song written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns and originally recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967. The song came to greater mainstream attention when Big Brother and the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin on lead vocals) covered the song in 1968 and had a much bigger hit with it. The song has since been remade by several singers, including hit versions by Faith Hill in 1994 and Melissa Etheridge in 2005.
In 2004, the Big Brother and the Holding Company version of this song was ranked Number 353 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The song is also included among The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll."
"Let Me Live" is a song by Queen, from the album Made in Heaven. Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor and Brian May share lead vocals, with Mercury singing the first verse, Taylor singing the second verse & bridge, and May singing the last verse. During the choruses, all of the band members sing (except for John Deacon), as well as a background choir, giving it quite a gospel sound.
There are rumours that this song was originally recorded with Rod Stewart in 1983, and was intended to be on Queen's The Works album in 1984. A backing lyric in the version intended for release on "Made in Heaven" had to be changed due to copyright problems, because it resembled a line from "Piece of My Heart". The first Mexican and Dutch pressings of the album, however, had the original version. The song peaked at #9 on the UK singles chart. According to the Queen website, BBC Radio 1 banned this song from the air waves.[1]"

I find it hard to believe that QAL will add to their setlist a song that is little known to the general public. They've already got several of those in their set list. Given the huge popularity of Killer Queen, it seems reasonable to me that they'd want to add another song in which Adam can show his campy-flirty-comic side. Just one is not enough;)! Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy seems ideal. And like Killer Queen, it could be another song that Adam would "set free" at long last, and sing it not just as if HE is the Lover Boy, but address it to his Lover Boy. It's such a feel-good song, and I think Adam would love the suggestive lyrics...
ALL THAT. I've loved that song for its feel-good nature since a Queen-loving friend first introduced me to it in college, and long before Adam-as-Queen-frontman was just a twinkle in Brian May's eye, I've want to see him perform an all out, camp, fun, suggestive version of this salute to Lover Boys everywhere . It's been near the very top of my "I wish Adam would sing..." list for a very long time. Fingers crossed for QAL Europe!!!
ETA: yeah, I was trying to figure out if I thought the piece of my heart bit was a rip off or an homage to Janis myself! Funny that it wasn't even originally Janis's! But I tend to go with the benefit of the doubt on these thingses. Anyway, all good music borrows from other good music!

Janis did hers far earlier. Queen's was a demo done initially in 1976 with Rod Stewart, and again revisited in 1984 but never finished. It's similarity may be one reason why the band didn't finish it. When looking for tracks to fill out Made In Heaven, Brian, Roger, and John finished the demo.
The vid I posted was actually the initial version which was withdrawn due to the backing vocalists part being too close to Janis' version.
Below is the actual album version. I prefer the withdrawn version despite the backing vocal similarities. I honestly don't think the main parts of the song sound anything like Janis' but I can see where the withdrawn backing vocals do.
This is the one that was actually released on Made In Heaven. It takes out the offending portions of the backing vocals
