Thank you for all the birthday wishes. And the cake is gorgeous! I share the day with many amazing people including one of my favs of all time -- Eleanor Roosevelt. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”― Eleanor Roosevelt, This is My Story A bit OT but because it is "National Coming Out Day":It is also the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights (the second National March) -- and that is why it is now "National Coming Out Day". When I went to Wiki to confirm the year for the second national march for L&G Rights, I came across the original list of demands. Here it is: This list seemed like a dream in 1987, now 27 years later...it has gotten better. - The legal recognition of lesbian and gay relationships -- matter of time FINALLY! - The repeal of all laws that make sodomy between consenting adults a crime -- DONE - US Supreme court ruling 2003, Lawrence v. Texas - A presidential order banning discrimination by the federal government -- DONE 1998 Still no federal law. - Passage of the Congressional lesbian and gay civil rights bill -- ?? Seems unlikely but we also do not have an ERA for women. - An end to discrimination against people with AIDS, ARC, HIV-positive status or those perceived to have AIDS. Massive increases in funding for AIDS education, research, and patient care. Money for AIDS, not for war. -- Sort of. - Reproductive freedom, the right to control our own bodies, and an end to sexist oppression. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE!! - An end to racism in this country and apartheid in South Africa. Well at least apartheid in South Africa has ended, not so much for racism in the US. Looking back, it looks OK but in 1987 I never would have imagined that Reproductive Freedom would be an issue in 2014!

Of course, Happy Birthday to Q3! I also want to wish my partner in concert mayhem, Babs12, a wonderful birthday as well, publicly that is. Babs and I met at an Adam GNT concert, and though we live states away from each other, have remained good friends. When I had my knee replacement a year ago, Babs came to stay with me after I left rehab. Just another reason to love this place. You are my community of choice--filled with so many "choice" people.

I always forget the Canadian Thanksgiving is in October! ** Back to Adam: The iHR Queen contest is a multi-station promotion and says that it is the Radio Station's Total Market Area but I can find only one station so far with an entry form and contest promotion -- WNNJ-FM. The official rules are like any iHR contest --- based on you local station participating: news.iheart.com/rules/2014Q4/iHR.Queen.Flyaway.Sweeptakes.Rules.pdf --- limited to US, must be 18, you must live in the station's TMA, etc. So has anyone found any other station on board? Perhaps we will see some next week.
