I doubt anyone in that room had any idea of their history and of course Monte would want to be at the awards. It was a great networking opportunity for a working musician, so not pathetic at all from my POV. I agree with that view too, and I have no wish to debate...just my opinion. I have people that I have worked with or my husband/family has dealt with that were/are not our favorite people...for whatever reasons. There are people in common ...it does not mean in MY WORLD that the other people or ME have to give up connections and forgo social or world of work events. As a thought, Monte may personally know more of these musicians than Adam. (Adam has not given up his acquaintance/friendship with Tommy, yet Tommy and Monte occassionally connect over twitter.)
It was interesting to me that Tommy's new band lead September Mourning was present...a bit of the new breed with the Old.. good news for rock.I agree -- perfectly sensible for Monte to be at that event. And perfectly sensible to me for Adam not to go out of his way to ever engage with him. But, if Adam was in a position where he had to talk to Monte, I have no doubt he would be civil and polite. I think Adam actually knows a lot of the top-level musicians who were there. And a few really important people in that room are Adam "fans" -- not the least of which are Sharon Osborne and Brian. Off the top of my head: Adam knows Brian May. Adam knows the Osbournes -- and spoke with Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon last night. [Is that the first time he met Ozzy?] Adam knows Slash from Idol and other events since. Adam has met Julian Lennon, Dave Mustaine, Henry Rollins, Sammy Hagar, and Joe Elliott before tonight. I am not sure if Adam has ever met or knows Joe Perry, Billy Gibbons, Gregg Allman, Robby Krieger but I do not think so. |

The end of Monte's and Adam's relationship came over the rights dispute over the old Citizen Vein recordings which Monte wanted released and Adam clearly did not. As far as I know, they have not spoken to each other since. And there is no doubt what happened because Monte's wife committed Twitter-cide and tweeted angerly about it. I believe the relationship was on the skids due to Monte not being included in any collabs for Trespassing. The cause of Lisa's twitter meltdown. (I have this on local people's knowledge, who were aware of what was "going down." This was around July 2011, before the bastard album 2. ) Then the bastard album was the nail in the coffin. "Bridges burned!" Yes, you're right. Not something I have thought too much about since. Lisa imploded over Trespassing not including Monte and then the bastard album ended it all. I just mashed the memory all together. ** Whatever else, it seemed like Adam was on a creative path that was so different than Monte's that they wear not likely collaborators. JMHO |

I know MP is a rock guitarist (didn't know he has a band though), but I'm just surprised he chose to go to an award show where he knew Adam is gonna be, and probably guessed he'd win, same as we guessed it. IDK, to me, him being there and watching his former friend and band mate take an award, give a speech, and win the honor and respect of everyone, makes him look kind of pathetic, doesn't it? or maybe it's just me being a bad person...  Call me a cock-eyed optimist (obscure musical theater reference), but I think it would be wonderful if this was an opportunity for both to bury the hatchet and remember the good times together. Celebrate the work that both are now doing. Hey, it could happen. (Tho' not likely, I admit.) If I remember correctly, Monte helped,with an old producer, to put out old songs on an album that they did together..Just when Adam's For Your Entertainment album came out..this hurt Adam,they were studio songs that adam got paid to do as a sessions singer He was paid then and the songs were meant for other singers... Monte went against Adam's desire to move on. . Adam had to hire a lawyer.. correct me if I'm wrong.The two albums coming out basically at the same time confused some buyers . |

ITA, this is one situation where I don't see Adam acting as he usually does, but again it is hard when you feel betrayed by someone you thought was your friend (been there done that). However, I would like to see this rift mended. |

Not exactly -- it was the second bastard album -- The Paramount Sessions (Dec 2011) and it was when Trespassing was being promoted -- coincided with BTIKM being released. But yes, as I understand the court filings and other documents, Adam and Monte together could have stopped it, but not separately. *** Let's table the Adam-Monte-bastard albums discussion. It was rehashed to death years ago and is old, old news. Thanks.

I wish I knew how to find gifs. Maybe there is one for the scene when Elliot told Santana that her behavior was "so high school." A few years ago I was laid off from a job in my chosen field. Why would I not go to an awards and networking opportunity in that field even if my former employer was slated to be honored? Maybe I would expect both parties involved to have emotional control instead of being babies. Hi! Getting wet?  We need to come up with another movie ... have you seen South Pacific? Just my opinion, but using myself as an example, Why on Earth would I want to reconcile with someone who betrayed me? For me, trust is very important. Could never be friends with someone I no longer trusted!
