On this week’s Hump Day with Adam Lambert, we celebrate a very special anniversary. It was five years ago this week that Adam gave the world his debut album For Your Entertainment. Released on November 23, 2009, it debuted on the album chart at #3 to rave reviews, and went gold or platinum in seven countries.
For this holiday edition of Hump Day, let’s take a track-by-track look back at the album. Does it still hold up?
Oh, the traditional gift for a fifth anniversary is … wood … so you can write your own joke.

These 5 year anniversary FYE articles gave me a great idea for Adam's 33rd Birthday. He doesn't need anything fans can buy. And we've done the charity thing a lot. But what about an FYE buying and gifting campaign?
1. You may recall that I have generally not been supportive of fan buying campaigns because it is hard to have any impact BUT with the decline in album sales, and the new Billboard 200 formula, it is possible to get an album into the Top 100 -- maybe even the Top 50 with a buying campaign.
>> Particularly in January the week before Adam's birthday when album sales are generally low.
2. FYE is a great album and I am sure we can find good homes to adopt a copy of this album. It would not only be nice to see this album back on the chart, but it could expose people to this great album and spread Adam's music.
3. The timing would be great:
> The Queen + Adam Lambert Tour hits the UK on January 13th, the week before Adam's birthday they play the back to back London concerts.
> It would lead into his new album release.
4. Adam's birthday is January 29th a Thursday which means the Billboard 200 for the week will be released on his Birthday eve in the US, and he will be in the UK already on the 29th.
5. The new Billboard 200 counts streams so people can support this campaign without spending any money. The new Billboard 200 will still derive the bulk of its data from sales of albums, both on physical media — CD, vinyl, even cassette — and full-album digital downloads. But they now include digital album cuts that are both streamed and downloaded -- 1,500 song streams from an album as equivalent to one album sale.
I have not been through all the rules about the new album chart but I have not seen any change to how catalog albums re-enter the chart. I need to research this over the weekend. BUT setting that aside, what do you think? If you think it is a good idea, I will research any catches with the new chart, and then I will put together a campaign.
And my bet is that with an organized campaign, and an easy way for new fans and casual fans to get a FREE Adam Lambert album to celebrate Adam's 33rd birthday, I bet that we can 1. get him some new fans, 2. Surprise Adam with a birthday gift he will really love, and 3. Help pre-promote A3 just a bit.
Finally, if you are game, my plan is to set up a FREE album sign-up page and gifting campaign for the US and Canada only. On that page I plan to promote Trespassing which is too new to give away to people. Anyway I like the 5th year anniversary so much.
