Wait, did Adam ever confirm that this performance was an homage, or is this just an inference being made based on the stairs and the suit? It's incredibly awesome either way though. I never made the connection before! Who was Adam paying homage to? Freddie in The Great Pretender video. He's wearing a very similar suit and clearly staged it similarly to the video (with the stairs). While we're on this subject, I'm gonna post the extended cut of the video, featuring priceless behind the scenes footage of Freddie, Roger, and Freddie's friend Pete Straker getting into drag. I highly recommend everyone here watch this, just because. Trust me, it's amazing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly-JZowFHDA

I think I'm going to have to read back through Talon's thread about this collaboration on Pretender with Roger. Yes the extended version with the behind the scenes was great. Sadly, as it brought tears, I clicked on this last video. I see Roger was at it's taping also.

Well, try thinking about the folks that were in Hair..... Peach pits. Well... One of my all time epic regrets is that I actually got the chance to see Hair in Amsterdam. But that year we also got Jesus Christ Superstar, and my budget was very tight back then. I had to choose and chose JCS.... Major major fail.... I could have seen Hair!! With Adam!!! Singing My Conviction! And the other obvious benefits . But I didn't....

Before I started following Adam's career I never took any notice of other artist really if I liked a song I liked it, it didn't bother me either way. Don't get me wrong I love music but a song is a song it's how it connects to you it's a personal thing. From the moment I saw Adam on AI I couldn't get enough, that was my personal connection. Nothing anyone says to the negative will change how I feel about this amazing artist and person. Like many of you I am here for the ride it's totally unconditional of what ever happens. Everything moana said ^^^^^

If liking the Queen + Adam Lambert designation with Adam treated as a separate, important part of this collaboration is twisted, then I guess I am a little twisted too! Actually, that's the sane part, LOL. What I was getting at is that and maybe it's a bit twisted is that I'm not tired of QAL by any means and will ride it out until the window of opportunity closes. I think Adam is winning with this collaboration beyond our comprehension. lelemaple, I'm with you all the way. Adam brands himself as Singer. Songwriter. Actor. Host. Of course his primary desire/direction is to achieve more success as a solo artist and he's made it clear that working with Queen is a +. But I don't see this collaboration as a 'diversion' or 'something less than' his solo career or a time-filler. Everything that Adam does is his career. They are all paying gigs and some serve other purposes in terms of branding him in his solo work or to define him in other ways for the longer-term. I didn't particularly like Adam on Glee other than Marry the Night. Cheesy show and cheesy performances for my taste. Putting any personal preferences aside, if you measure the impact of the Queen collaboration strictly on the numbers - as a paying gig, this is by far the most important and successful phase of his career so far - arena tour, scale of production, personal wealth creation, media profile and recognition as a vocalist. The comparisons may be tedious, but in a world driven by comparison, it is not harmful, in my view, to be in a position to be compared with a legendary vocalist and performer and to receive glowing praise, on the whole. Looked at artistically, while he is, strictly speaking, singing cover songs, they are challenging vocally and performance-wise and the catalogue is stretching him. I don't think the 'debate' or comparisons really get under the skin of more than a few hundred mega-fans of both artists on a few fan boards. They don't even come close to touching the 'wins' looking at just the sold out arenas. Juniemoon was right a few pages back. It has to be a conscious choice made that this part of Adam's career (and/or the Freddie-comparison aspects) are going to drive us crazy, or not. Being a fan is meant to be fun and there's something wrong, I think, if it's not. Above all else, I love Adam's voice. I happen to love hearing Adam sing great songs and these songs are great songs. I'm truly happy when I see Adam performing live. I would see him live in any context whatsoever. So far, I have enjoyed Adam performing with Queen as a live performance more than his GNT concerts. I am hoping that the music for A3 will blow that perspective away.
