12.26.14 Adam Returns From Vacation

No! Don't stop the pictures!! I can deal or just move to my laptop! 

By the way, just so you know, we are not alone in these activities. There all whole threads on U2 fan boards dedicated to discussing the most effective and least intrusive ways of meeting band members. The various fan boards have rules in place as to what kinds of things are ok to post publicly and what should only be shared through email or pm. These evolved through various fans interactions with band members sharing what they did or did not like fans to do. One poster hilariously started a series of posts along the stylist lines of guides for wildlife photographers on how to get close and interact. Eventually with prompting she made a digital book and it was shared through the fans. Somewhere along the line a copy was actually printed and given to Bono's head of security. The band and all their crew found it so hilarious and accurate that Larry, the hardest of all to meet actually went out and met them. It was actually a really ingenious way of educating fans on what band members felt was ok and what was too intrusive.

Over the years U2 fans have developed pretty good lines of indirect communication with the band and are good at letting the band know when there are people crossing the line. I remember a particular fan online causing some concern to other fans and a few pointed the person out to Bono's security guy and he thanked them for the info but also told them that they were already well aware. Bono especially, loves to meet fans but after the craziness of the Joshua Tree years he had to come up with ways to do so that allowed more natural interaction. He pretty much trained the fan base to not gather in large groups and mob them.

We are still at baby steps but we do self police to an extent. Whenever possible most of us won't post pictures stolen from private sites when it becomes known. Very little that is posted here is not public record for that matter. While it may seem intrusive you might be surprised if you went looking for how much of your own life is publicly accessible online. I once googled a new customer's address and got a real estate walk through of their house.

As one who has commented on the "creepiness" of photo manipulations of Adam and who I guess initially brought up Sauli's first "Jungle" instagram from this trip, I guess I might be taking juniemoon's comments a little too personally, especially since I'm really small potatoes in the world of Adam fans. I do find speculation about Adam's sex life, discussions about whether he has gotten "excited" onstage (with accompanying photos), etc., to be objectifying and disrespectful, but I just scroll by ... With regard to this vacation and other times Adam and Sauli have spent time together since their breakup, I am with the posters who have pointed out that Adam and probably Sauli too have obviously chosen what and how much to post about whatever time they spend together. Beyond the fact that they obviously had an enjoyable vacation in a beautiful place, we don't really need to know more. But thinking about it is a fun diversion that they apparently want to assist us in with their photos, and I don't see anything wrong with that. Some of us can't speculate to our spouses... This is the only place we can talk about Adam. And until there is new music (or more QAL shows), this is what we have to talk about.
