At one time there was a discussion about what Adam might earn on the North American, Asia, Australia, New Zealand tour. I think Q3 estimated it could be around $10 million but that was gross, not after management, legal, and other fees deducted. I am wondering if that estimate will hold. Also, based on the number of dates would the potential for Adam to earn something in that ballpark again be possible for the European leg of the tour? Just interested and hope that it puts Adam in a place that he can continue to be selective about his projects and explore options that interest him. Gross income based on record sales, concert revenue, etc...., so therefore, own expenses of the artist are not yet deducted, but that is true across the board. The net take-home for the artist is always significantly lower, there are lots of people assisting and therefore also collecting. But Adam is not going overboard with that, keeping it mostly to what is truly needed. The whole discussion was one of 'can he beat Kellie or Carrie' and the answer is Kellie - yes, Carrie - maybe. The top spot is within reach, but by no means assured, and mys*&@^#r's post indirectly indicates the same thing. Also, as she already said, keeping all the QAL revenue in the same year, helps. Otherwise, here in US, such numbers and surrounding discussions are public info, I realize that this is different in many other cultures. By the way, not only for celebrities is this different. Found it astounding, when I came to the US, how much salary information was published, even on the upper managerial level. Also learned over time, that bonuses and other benefits (like corp. stock, etc) were significantly less public, and given that in the US, the bonus, etc is often a much higher part of the overall earnings, this still allowed for significant discretion overall. But still, much more information was public in US, compared to EU. Adam's numbers will always be undergoing public scrutiny, as long as he is in the public eye. Part of the gig. Thanks for publishing those cumulative numbers, mys*&@^#r. So Adam is closing in on Daughtry. hmmm. I have to say, I feel for both Daughtry and David Cook. Their music is just not current at the moment, and that is such a change in direction from when they started out. I wonder to what extent they can change, and to what extent they will have to just hang in there and wait it out, kind of like Nile Rogers had to do. For Adam, obviously, the wind is blowing much more strongly in his favor than it would have done 5 or even 10 years ago, so overall, I think it was a good thing for him to wait to make his move. I am so ready for A3, and what it will bring.

I think Adam's inspiration was from the movie, A ClockWork Orange. Here is the poster for the movie. Malcolm McDowell starred.

"income is a barometer of success" while true enough is perhaps one of the saddest reflections of our views on success and what it means in society today and the reason I find so called "rich lists" to be profoundly depressing. Sadly the $ someone makes carries more weight than what they accomplish. But I won't divert the conversation further down this path - and yes I have English (and Spanish and French) heritage and judging someone by what they do not by how much money they make was pretty big in my house growing up (and still is). I don't think anyone here is "judging" Adam by how much he made...I know I am not, but I am deliriously happy that he found a way not only to be himself and follow his passion but also to secure a very comfortable lifestyle. nica, I share your happiness and my comment was a personal reflection and not directed to anyone here.
