This is a bit of a review followed by video of some of the best work by Queen. I removed the videos -- but left the song titles. The link to entire article with videos is at the end. Queen: A Hidden Kind Of MagicThursday, 15 January 2015 [article] >>>> Link: www.stereoboard.com/content/view/188918/9 Thank you for sharing this article, Q3! Fangirling incoming... (note: everything I'm writing is my own opinion; I'm no talon-ish expert, just a fan)It's like a random writer made a list of my favorite Queen songs with only a couple of exceptions. I could really, really, REALLY get behind QAL taking on three quarters of this list. The only headscratcher to me is "One Year of Love" - probably my least favorite Queen song in the entire catalog. I've tried listening to it quite a few times, but it just doesn't do anything for me. A boring 80's ballad...with so many other down tempo songs that are 100 times better (White Queen, Lily of the Valley, Nevermore, You Take My Breath Away, Save Me, Melancholy Blues, LOML, Teo Torriate, Don't Try So Hard, WWTLF) I don't get why anyone would want to hear this instead? I also find "Spread Your Wings" to be a little meh...I love it lyrically, but I don't find it as...musically dynamic as other Queen songs. Other than that... Father to Son - HELL YES. I jam out to this daily multiple times a day and never tire of it, even the slightest bit. And just when I think I want to repeat it, it fades into White Queen, and I have no choice but to listen to White Queen because it's so effing beautiful. Was It All Worth It - I absolutely adore this song, but I don't know how the lyrics would sound coming from Adam Lambert, a man at the relative beginning of his career who hasn't exactly had the same life experiences as Freddie. Scandal - Adam's voice could soar on this one! I would be very interested to hear live instrumentation. It's Late - Another one of my absolute favorites from the Queen catalog. Would love to hear six to seven minutes of this song a night. The guitar solos....the "scenes"/verses....*melts* Prophet's Song - Absolutely epic. YES. You Take My Breath Away - What can I possibly say about this song? It's the single most gorgeous song in the entire catalog, hands down. Liar - A great showcase for the entire band, as shown in the Rainbow. Hitman - This song rocks, but it wouldn't be my first choice from Innuendo!

I LOVE LYNDSEY PARKER. THAT IS ALL. For Your Entertainment: Adam Lambert Guest-Judges on 'Idol'Lyndsey Parker It was Throwback Thursday on American Idol this week, when the GREATEST CONTESTANT EVER TO COMPETE ON THE SHOW, from THE BEST SEASON EVER, returned and made history as the first alum to ever serve as a guest judge. Sorry for going crazy with the capslock there, but I’m talking about the Glamerican Idol himself, Mr. Adam Lambert — the man with better hair than Keith Urban, zingier one-liners than Harry Connick Jr., and some might even say a prettier face than Jennifer Lopez. So of course a regular old font just won’t do. Lately, Idol's producers have been harping on and on, longwindedly and sometimes unconvincingly, about how “American Idol creates stars.” But really, seeing Adam six years after his first Idol appearance, his old Hot Topic hoodie and Manic-Panicked combover swapped for a designer suit and subtle tone-on-tone highlights, drove that point home. In 2009, Adam walked into the audition room looking like some cute emo kid; in 2015, he returned looking like a grown-up superstar.Much has changed for Adam since Season 8, aka THE BEST SEASON EVER, besides his upgraded hair and wardrobe. He scored a top 10 hit that earned him a Grammy nomination. He had a regular role on Glee. Lately, he’s been fronting Queen at sold-out stadiums around the world. And on Thursday, the same day that his Idol guest-judging appearance aired, he announced that he has signed a new deal with Warner Bros. Records and is working on his third album with hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback. But when Adam “re-auditioned” this week with Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” — the same song he performed at Season 8’s San Francisco tryouts, years before he ended up singing it on tour with the actual Queen — his voice, showmanship, and confidence remained unchanged. I guess some people are just born Idols. Adam’s Idol appearance this week could have had a negative effect on viewers: Instead of it being thrilling to see how far Adam has come, it could’ve been downright depressing to realize how far Idol has gone downhill since his landmark season, aka THE BEST SEASON EVER. But thankfully, there was nothing depressing about Thursday’s episode. First of all, Adam was a great judge — encouraging and empathetic, but tough when he needed to be. So that was enjoyable. And second, while there were no singers at this Thursday’s auditions, which took place in New York City, that were quite at a Lambert level, much of the talent was still undeniably impressive. Could any of Thursday’s New Yorkers be Idol's next breakout star, following in Adam's Louboutin-booted footsteps? Let's run down the best of the bunch and find out: Read more: www.yahoo.com/music/for-your-entertainment-adam-lambert-guest-judges-108242720421.html?src=rss

I would have missed this good article. Anytime an article goes beyond GH, I like to see what they say. AND queenofthenight I mostly agree with you...I even agree on One Year Of Love - One of my least favs in the catalogue as well. The sax is out of place and I even think Freddie should have dialed it back and done a more low key performance. So I have no desire to hear this one.... Spread Your Wings though I'd disagree - LOVE this one especially if they choose to do the BBC upbeat rocking ending. as for the rest? Father To Son - Queen doing The Who before going into White Queen - just perfection on record. Scandal - Many feel it is underrated and I agree - however there are others even from The Miracle I would rather hear (The Miracle for one, Breakthru for another, and.... Was It All Worth It? - I see what you mean about the lyrics but I'd let it go because the song is very powerful...a great encore number. It's Late? I would die. GREAT song. If I had to choose one song to encapsulate Queen - this may be it...Dramatic, rocking, powerful vocals, beautiful meaning. Just a great song. Then again I might have to choose..... Prophets Song - In a previous post I said that Freddie wrote the bizarre, artistic tracks - well this is the exception - Brian pulls a Freddie and almost matches Bo Rap. YTMBA - we all know now Liar - Back in the this was THE number. Fans screaming for it, and Freddie having to tell them they'd get to it. Dramatic, rocking - it would be great... Hitman - would be an interesting choice - it is extremely rocking though it does drone on a bit....i agree with QOTN that there are others on the album I'd rather hear (Innuendo, Ride The Wild Wind, Don't Try So Hard, All God's People)

I actually have the exact same Innuendo wish list as you. All God's People is my fourth biggest QAL set list pipe dream altogether...that's the one song in the entire catalog that Adam cannot possibly "oversing" no matter how hard he tries. However, re: Miracle songs, I prefer Scandal to The Miracle and Breakthru...but that's just my opinion Also, I have not yet thanked you for the Queen guide (well, I wasn't on ATOP while it was being written, but I've checked it out a few times recently). It's truly an invaluable resource with a staggering amount of detail. So thanks! I'm gonna have to check out the BBC version of Spread Your Wings....I have not yet listened to anything other than the album version.

Recap of Glasgow.....with a bit of Newcastle.
The downside to travelling to see QALs is that it's so difficult to keep in touch on Atop. I have read almost nothing of the threads since Tuesday and I can't wait to read about Idol and Record deals.....we live in exciting times!
Newcastle was tricky. Tough standing audience with hands glued to armpits or beer mugs. They came to life for Brian and Roger and Radio Gaga. The sound was horrible where I was (a couple of rows off the floor, close to the stage) and talking with others later, it seems it was not a localised problem. The first song opened the show with none of the build-up and excitement of NIH and Adam was on the back foot for quite a few songs.
But he worked SO hard....was so charming....he won through....and I have to say that most/all the set run changes that we thought should be made, were made the next night.
Such a good reminder that it's not always easy adulation....but what a professional, hardworking and focused man he is.
And then...GLASGOW!
Chalk and cheese... This crowd was ready to love him and Adam was at his most relaxed, cutest and the 'dirtiest' I've ever seen him with Queen. He was having fun again. I believe the Newcastle reviews were great so that would perhaps have eased the way a little. The running order was changed and it worked so much better though the opening still doesn't compare with NIH.
I was very close and could see how light his make-up was; he looks so healthy and youthful. The sound was great and they all looked more relaxed than the night before. The bagpiper and the tartan trousers all went down well. (I love the trousers).
Couldn't tear myself away from a meal with Momtomany, Lilly and Tillyfilly to queue early - I was the only one with a standing ticket and, of course, M2M was on the stage! For weeks I'd resigned myself to not being tough enough to get near the front so I was prepared. Doors opened at 6.30 so about 6.40 i went into the foyer, showed my ticket, was told to stand in a line of about 40 people.....and literally five minutes later, we filed into an empty arena. No one rushed; I tried out a few different locations before I settled behind a tiny person just below Adam's mic. All the time I was thinking ' how has this happened? Where is everyone?' It was unbelievable.
I stood with the most excited, funny, outgoing group of people who, for a few hours became my best friends. Everyone introduced themselves, shook hands, including a charming young man and his two sisters (early 30s). Ten minutes before the start, this man insisted on getting me a beaker of water from the bar when I said how thirsty I was.(i don't drink, except in Vegas...ouch!) I begged him not to go as the floor was now rammed full and tightly packed - but he went and got his place back! I asked him how a crowd 200 deep let him move through to the very front five minutes before the start and he said, 'I said excuse me, please'..... so there's the secret folks! Lol.
Suddenly Have to go and no time to edit.....and just realised I don't know how to save. Will post and come back later
