Watching Idol again and wanted to say something about the comments about Adam's chair being "off." I thought I noticed something yesterday, but wanted to watch again to confirm. It is, IMO, just the way Adam is sitting. JLo stays straight in the middle with her chair pulked all the way into the table. Harry pretty much stays straight too except when he is clowning around. But Adam moves his chair all around. He swivels, goes back, and most of the time has his left leg 1/2 way crossed over his right knee (resting on top if it.) When he has his leg crossed, that is when it most looks like he is farther away from the other 2 judges because he is not as close to the table I was thinking too that when the camera is showing them from their right, especially when Adam is talking, she has to swivel her chair to face it, which also moves her a little closer to Harry's side. I did find it annoying that often when they were showing the judges from the front they were just showing JLo and Harry instead of all three. And what's with Harry anyhow, ADHD? Adam was soooo attentive. ETA: lol, I see I'm not the only one. ^^ Yes, perspective is one of the words I was looking for too.

I'm not reading anything into anyone's body language.

I'm not reading anything into anyone's body language. It's the camera angle too, it brings Harry and JLo closer together just like a telephoto lens would. And if anything Adam is the person who doesn't get in close to people he doesn't know, you can see that in pictures quite often where he does the shoulder hug but the hips are still distanced. I thought he was warmly welcomed by both judges and they both respected his opinion and I don't think JLo acts at all divaish. An all around win for everyone. It was interesting how loud they had Adam's mike too or else his voice just carrys and also that he was often the one who welcomed the auditioneers into the room which I'm sure could be seen as presumptive if we were so inclined. I was just blown away by how ridiculously handsome he looked on the big screen and by gosh the camera people couldn't get enough of him either. The whole show was very very Adam centric and I loved it.

I've watched a few AI last year and this year, from what I've seen JLo's always huddle or sitting closely to Harry than to Keith. Not sure why. Keith's very kind and friendly but he's very professional as well and his wife's more beautiful that JLo IMO.
Maybe it only appears that Jlo is sitting closer to Harry because of the camera perspective. The camera is on Adam's side so the space between Jlo and Harry is shortened, while the space between Adam and Jlo appears wider.. If the shot was taken from the front of the judges, it may appear that there is equal distance between all of them.. Just a thought.. jinx Yes, yes

Adam of course got the somewhat dubious audition time (I loved the singing but I did not like the idea at all), but otherwise I did not see what you saw...as a matter of fact I thought they've left him out of the judges shot more often than not, showing JLo and Harry only. In any case it was a great treat for us and a great exposure opportunity for Adam!

I did not find anything out of place or insulting by having Adam audition again. Idol's theme this year is "We make superstars." Adam is one of their finest examples. He is not only successful on his own, but is getting accolades around the world for his work with Queen, he is a media magnet, he is a fashion icon, and he is an excellent mentor and judge. Of course Idol wants to emphasize that they "discovered" him.
They were all also playing up the fact that Adam brought a unique perspective to the judges' table, having been on the opposite side of it. The press was playing it up. JLo and Harry were very aware of it. I am pretty sure it was a set up for Harry to ask, but, if not, I can totally see him sitting there with Adam and imagining what it would have been like to see this amazing guy stand in front of him and audition. What would it have been like to be on the panel that first recognized Adam's potential? Wouldn't it be fun to recreate that moment? And wouldn't it be wonderful TV. (If I were in Harry's place, having seen Adam only on TV, I assume, I would be dying to hear that phenomenal voice without adornment, ten feet in front of me. I'd have to find a way to ask him to sing something.)
From Adam's side, it would be smart to accept the request/challenge. Many in the current Idol audience may not have heard him six years ago. Or may have forgotten what he sounded like. Or may not have followed his career since he left Idol. This was an opportunity to re-introduce himself to the audience, to show how he had grown in six years, and to compare and contrast him with the current crop of aspirants. Just like when Adam sings with someone else, it serves to demonstrate in crystal clear terms how extraordinary he is.
He is putting his money where his mouth is, as a judge. He not only talks the talk, but he walks the walk. He is not some "has-been" appearing on a TV show to try and relive his glory years. It enhances his credibility and likability. Plus, it promotes the current QAL tour.
I loved it, and thought it worked on many levels.
