Finally we are back home from our two short trips to Cologne and Hamburg!
Fortunately everything went well with the weather and the trains, the hotels in both cities were very nice and so I enjoyed the trips very much! I finally got to visit Cologne, where I had never been before, and of course it was also great to be in Hamburg again after several years! (Guess what I did in Hamburg yesterday?)
We did some sightseeing and I took a lot of pics especially in Cologne! Haha, and when we took a walk to the Rhine, I think I saw Adam’s trainer (unfortunately alone!
)! The first time we saw him, he was running on the Rhine-promenade (directly opposite of Adam’s hotel!) and we saw him again on his second round on the bridge with all the love locks! I was still wondering if it was really him and then, one day later, I saw the pic here at Atop that he posted of himself on that same bridge and in that blue outfit and after that I was sure that it was him, lol!!!
One day before the concert we met the wonderful Nic
and spent a very nice evening together in the typical Cologne brewery/restaurant of our hotel! We chatted a lot about everything, drank many “Kölsch” and took a little walk to the Rhine together afterwards! It was really a great evening! It’s always so nice to meet Atoppers and finally get to know them in person!
The concert in Cologne was great and we had very good seats near the small balcony at the side of the stage!
Unfortunately the setlist was shortened and, due to Dr. Bri’s illness, also some songs seemed to be a little bit shorter and I had the feeling that they “rushed through” their program, especially in the first part of the concert! And it seemed to me that Adam had to “work a little bit harder” before he finally got the audience (of course almost only Queen-fans!) on his side and so I also felt more pressure to support him and “fight for him” in the first half of the concert and couldn’t totally enjoy the show without worrying a little bit if the audience would accept him! But of course after the first half of the show he won everyone over and I could relax!
The highlights of that concert for me were “Save me” and “WWTLF”, it’s indescribable to finally hear those songs live, his voice sounds so clear and angelic, I really got ...
!!!
Of course I stood and danced and sang and screamed and clapped during the whole concert, fortunately nobody around us told me to sit down, instead more and more people followed and stood up. And of course I almost fainted everytime when Adam was on our side of the stage or on that little balcony, looking in our direction, because I always had the feeling that he was looking directly at me, lol, how does he always do that?!
(Hmm, it could be that he was really amused because everytime he was there I screamed his name and waved like a maniac the whole time, haha, I think I behaved like a 15-year old fangirlie
, how embarrassing
, poor hubby!
).
Oh and I loved it when we all sang “Happy Birthday” for Adam and he thanked us with “Ich liebe
Dich!” instead of “Ich liebe
Euch!”, haha, so cute!!!
Unfortunately our little digi-cam didn’t function properly, so we couldn’t take any videos and pics with it! I took some pics with the camera of my phone but the camera isn’t the best and so all my pics are blurry! Here are some of them, I hope you recognize that it is Adam on stage, hahaha!!!
What a bother! Nobody checked our jackets, etc. at the entrance and there were also no security guards near us, so it would have been easy for me to take my bigger reflex camera into the arena and take better pics and videos, grr!!!
Oh and after the concert a row of the big Queenbert-tour-trucks stood in front of the arena and everyone (also all the Queen fans!) wanted a pic in front of them, so you almost had to wait in line to get a free space, lol! Of course we also took some pics!
And then there was Hamburg …!!! Unfortunately the concert day started with a little shock for us! In the morning, when I was in the hotel bathroom getting ready for a meeting with other German Glamberts in the Hamburg Hardrock Café at noon, suddenly my DH rushed in with his nose bleeding like I had never seen it before! It had suddenly started, and we couldn’t get it to stop and so after several minutes I had to call the ambulance which came with the sirens and the emergency lights on, what a fuss! The friendly doctors couldn’t stop the bleeding either, so they took my DH with them to the hospital and there I sat, alone in the hotel-room and I didn’t know when he would be back and if we could attend the concert in the evening?!
And of course I also had to cancel our fan-meeting! But fortunately they could quickly help my DH in the hospital and so he was back after two hours and he was also allowed to go to the concert in the evening (but no headbanging for him, lol!), phew, what a relief!!!
And how lucky we were to be at
THE CONCERT!!!
The Hamburg concert was so different from the first one in Cologne! I had the feeling that the audience was already “hot” before the concert started, they really waited to finally see their heroes Queen again and so some of them already started to sing “Bohemian Rhapsody” before the concert began! I can’t describe why but there was really a different atmosphere in the arena! Fortunately the concert was almost sold out, there were only two smaller regions in the upper level at the back that were empty. We had the same great seats again, like in Cologne, so I had the same great view on the stage and Adam!!!
The concert itself was … fantastic, unbelievable, the best concert I have ever been to, … it’s really difficult to find better words to describe it!
Queen and Adam gave everything from the beginning to the end and the audience was so thankful for it and was on their side from the start! We had the full setlist again (YAY!!!) and they also played all the songs in full length! And they were all on fire, the band and Adam gave their best in every song and we got to hear many of those unbelievable high and/or long notes from Adam
, wow, the audience was impressed and I was so proud of our bb!!!
In Hamburg I really had the feeling that finally other people recognized what I/we all here have already seen and known for years!
The audience was very loud from the beginning on and they also participated a lot by clapping and singing along, for example together with Dr. Bri to “Love of my life”, it sounded so beautiful to hear the whole arena sing, it really caused happy tears!!!
Aww, and we all loved it when Dr. Bri said “Moin moin!” to greet us, how cute of him to learn this typical Northern German phrase!
All in all I really had the feeling that Adam and also Dr. Bri and all the others felt the special atmosphere of that concert because they were all so relaxed and playful on stage. Adam was so funny, his facial expressions (and of course his ... errm ... "body language"
) are always priceless, lol!
(BTW, what a difficult decision between looking directly at him on stage because he is so near or looking at the big screen to see the funny faces he pulls!)
So, although the concert was longer than the one in Cologne, as always it went by too fast, but I think the evening was a big success for Queen and also for Adam! I also spoke to a middle-aged couple next to us after the show (he was there because of Queen and she liked Queen and also knew Adam before but she was not a real Glambert, I think!) and they were both very impressed of Adam and his voice and liked him very much! Of course I informed the woman about Adam’s coming album
and she seemed to be interested in it!
Now, back at home, I’m already in the usual “post-concert-depression”!
Although I was so lucky to attend two shows, I really would love to go to a third one, it’s like an addiction, sigh!
One more thing: I never liked the leopard suit that much before but in reality it looks really good together with the crown because not only the crown sparkles but there are also many rhinestones on the upper part of the jacket that sparkle very much in the lights, it looks really royal!
Speaking of lights, in Hamburg the only acceptable pics I took with my phone-camera were this one of Adam and the lasers …
… and this one of Adam on the stairs! (Look at the broad grin of that guy on stage, lol!)
Unfortunately the rest is totally blurry again, lol!
Now I have A LOT to catch up on, during our trips I only had time to skim through the threads of the last couple of weeks and so now I have to read and watch and download and save everything I can find, OOFTA!!!
Okay, be back in a few … days/weeks/months?!
Haha!!!
