Wonderful post and gorgeous photos midwifespal. Hiking and photography - 2 of my favorite things. Unfortunately skills in both have deteriorated somewhat recently, so I can enjoy yours vicariously. Your entire post touched my heart but especially the part I'm quoting: We've made progress in the US but to bring home how far we have to go how about this from today's news: "House Speaker John Boehner said Republicans will try to divert funds from the Justice Dept. to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court. In February the White House ordered the Justice Dept. to stop defending the anti-gay marriage law."Adam has to live in a country where he is a second class citizen. I can't imagine how that must feel. I doubt the BSC commentators on various sites are Atopians. We have too much class.

Mia,
Don't ever go because of anything you might say. I have had nights where I have made an ass of myself, and I still come back. When you have been here awhile you will read all kinds of stuff, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Just take it all with a grain of salt and try to laugh at some of the crazy stuff. Bottom line is still "the more the merrier." Stay with us.

Animated really really liking your newest manipulations. Keep sharing them! Skull art is a thing right now that came out of the underground art/goth scene but is showing up in fashion/interior and product design/body modification/contemporary art/you name it. Damien Hirst was probably doing it before Steve McQueen and the Dutch painters were doing it way, way before that in their memento mori still-lives. It's a symbol of mortality, death and violence, but also can be a cultural embrace/remembrance of the dead (dia de los muertos), or a carpe diem, seize the day kind of reminder (I always liked the lyrics of "live like we're dying"), or about a search for spiritual meaning in the face of death, or just about time running out on an environmentally threatened planet. Anyone into seeing how widely it has proliferated can check out sites like: www.whokilledbambi.co.uk/midwifespal so jelly of your hike! I wanna get outside more but am waiting for the rain to stop in my part of the world. Looks so beautiful! Good call on the Tony Stark beard - I'm slowing sliding over to team #Ithinkit'sgrowingonme about the beard. Regarding the calling out homophobia. Yes, I agree that it is important to do an internal check here. But I've been burned by seeing "calling out" comments by straight women on gay websites and blogs which of course, go over like a lead balloon, and by the dynamics of the pile-on pattern. If someone has already pointed out gracefully and fairly why something is a problem, there is often IMO, no need for many, many other people to head on over and add their ungraceful and unfair additional comments. (note: I see a very few exceptions to this - Catherwood being one). Also, I try to do an internal check. Can I respond in a comments section without making reference to Adam by name? (Is the slight that clearly an issue of homophobia and not just an issue of different tastes?) if so, and if I can leave a comment about the issue, not the person, that really for me is the test. BTW - listing Adam's sales, Grammy nomination, tour success or charity support is all somewhat counter-productive to a comment or argument about homophobia - to me and probably to the original writer, it just shows that you care about the person, more than the issue of equality.

I always wonder what kind of a person does not want equality for all of our brothers and sisters in the US. I know a lot of these people are running this country. What we should be doing is voting those people out of office asap. Until we do that, the laws are not going to change. Have you all written your representatives in the government? I have several times for all the good it does. Maybe if they got a million letters at once, they might have second thoughts about equal rights..

New Adam fan here. Been lurking here for a few days. Hello to everyone.
There has been many interesting comments about radios playing songs and the influence fans can have. It's a subject I've never considered before, but now find myself very curious about.
While I was reading I realized that I don't have any idea what kind of image Adam has here in Europe and do radio stations play his songs a lot?

Which doesn't explain why many gay websites fall all over themselves giving credit to Lady Gaga for her stand on gay rights. I guess you have to be famous for it to count? Wait, that can't be it, because some of those same sites don't bother to acknowledge Adam for living the anthem that Gaga is selling.

midwifespal those pictures are gorgeous! Looks like a beautiful place.I hope you had fun.I love your post. You make a lot of good points.I think that part of why I sometimes get protective of Adam (well at least in my mind, I'm also allergic to the comment section) is because of homophobia. I hope one day we won't have to worry about that. The Times They Are a-Changin'. PS I actually like Judas.I like it's rock-techno vibe & good vs evil theme.I think it's kind of adventurous.Though I wish she'd stop with the sing-speak bridge. Now I'm gonna sneak out before the glitter tomato throwing begins. :
