Idol is & always will be part of Adam's history. Like it or not, Idol discovered him. Idol gave him the break he needed, at age 28!! He embraces it, so do I. It has been a big part of our Pop culture for 14 years now. This year there are quite a few young Kids that are16-17 years old. How big a part of our culture Idol has been, really hit home when these kids said things like, "I've been watching Idol since I was 3!" Can on,y think of one other show they could say that about! Are there other Idols that have supported the show as much as Adam? Yes, Carrie Underwood. The #1 selling Idol, so far! ITA, if it weren't for AI we would probably not know Adam at all. I personally will always be grateful that they introduced Adam to the world! There's gratitude and then there is dues paid time to move on. Hoping Q3 has it right and if he performs is not to debut anything. #ymmv and probably does.

Adam has never dissed Idol and I'll put money on his singing the new single on the show. Idol still has about 10 mil US viewers plus I don't know how many in other countries. Everyone says the NYE London show was huge and it had about 12.5 mil UK viewers plus other countries. Jimmy Kimmel has less than 2 million and Fallon less than 4 mil. If you want Adam to have exposure for TOH, nothing else comes close to Idol. (Not counting The Voice cause I don't think he'd do it.)

Guests on Kimmel quite often hit a broader cultural news cycle (Huffington Post, People etc) extended the reach far beyond those who watch. Not sure last time I saw anything about Idol other than the continued rumors about JLo and Keith (tabloid fabrication pulp). Not suggesting for a minute that Adam would or should diss Idol, just that there are other platforms and other channels he can (and probably should) use to get his new music to a broader audience and build legitimacy and exposure outside the Idol bubble. As Q3 noted the Idol bounce is a shadow of it's former self... I think it's probably a given (seeing he was a judge) that he will perform his new single at some point. I just vote for not using AI to premier it.

The music portion not. Don't know how much help the press about those shows would help Adam. I'm all for Adam being on all of these shows, though.

Forget Idol IMO in terms of premier performance, more later on. Dream is Adam perform lead single on SNL, or some award show.

The only thing I am sure of is that his team already has this figured out and it will be very deliberate and probably contain more than a few surprises. There is a ton of dollars tied up in this.

This must be right. I can't imagine IDOL ending in April . . . it just doesn't figure. I'm also hearing a buzz out there that says this year is a good one for the machine. I expect the show will run thru May, as in years past . . . and we'll see Adam performing his single on the show . . . and that may not be all! Mentoring? Judging? Dueting? Yesterday I watched a part of a "Reality Check" video by Michael Slezak and Melinda Doolittle, and they were saying that this may be one of the best seasons ever in terms of bench strength. I got curious and went searching for a list of the top 24 to see how many are there from the NY auditions. There are seven. There are six who Adam really liked and voted "yes" to, and the seventh is a girl he thought was very talented but not ready -- she was very nervous during her audition. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Adam as a guest judge during one of the last few weeks, and performing (not debuting) his new single, either on that show or at the finale. My personal opinion is that the Idol exposure doesn't hurt him at all -- the show still has a large viewing audience, and he has shown that he is so much MORE than a former Idol standout. I hope he has tons of TV appearances, both interviews and performances, in April and May.
