I would not get too worried until you hear what he has done. The hints he as given up lead me to believe that this is not just going to be an album of "typical" house club tracks. Adam said it was a Pop album and that he created it with the audience in mind -- so it is not a niche genre. It has to be some form of Electropop. BUT since Shellback is so deeply involved there will definitely be real instruments. I think they must have done some kind of fusion between his strong vocals and house/deep house production techniques but in a pop song structure. He has mentioned it has a little R&B flavor. He also keeps talking about the lyrics -- in the newest interview, "And then some great timeless songwriting, And lyrically the songs are very honest …. a little more serious, they tend to be a little darker." I can't quite imagine this all together -- but somehow I think this may be more like Lorde than Detroit Swindle, and our biggest clue is probably Taylor Swift's 1989 since that was also Max Martin + Shellback as EPs. *** Max Martin and Shellback produced and co-wrote "Black Space" with Taylor Swift. It is Electopop but has some clear house influences. I am not a huge Taylor Swift fan (although I like this song) -- it is a pop song with some House influences. Somehow I think they are in this space youtu.be/e-ORhEE9VVgIf I just strip away Taylor's vocals and imagine it in Adam's powerful voice, it would be absolutely great. If Taylor's vocals are stripped away, I don't like the resulting instrumentals at all on the above video. But I do like the Tensnake/Nile Rodgers deep house example from yesterday and several of the other deep house examples. And I like the implications of the descriptions of "deep house" as opposed to just "house" posted yesterday, especially the "rhythm and groove" part:

For those wondering about Ashley's involvement in Adam's new band... The Filter band is touring March 6th to April 12. So if Adam does not need his full band till after April 12th, then Ashley could still be in Adam's band too.

I'm with you. I listened to the examples posted yesterday and they were just about the most boring stuff I've ever heard--sort of like new age music (which we used to call "newage"--ryhmes with "sewage"). Hopefully, Adam will twist it around enough so that it just seasons his music.

But I tend to think she will not be with Adam for the next go round. At least not the initial PR appearances. While bands change frequently, they do not like to, as it takes quite a while to break in a new member, have them learn all the songs, have them gel with other members, etc. I don't think they announce her as a new member for just a month of gigs. Ah, but what do I know?
