RIP Phoebe. I remember seeing her on Saturday Night Live with Paul Simon when she was expecting her daughter. Paul introduced her by saying, "She's about seven and a half months closer to being a mother than anyone else in the studio right now." It was a time filled with hope, and I was really sad when her daughter was born with severe brain damage. And now this--she was only 58. What a tragedy.

The interviewers do have more current events than Idol to discuss. BF Album #2 Twitter Charity Water DVD-CD Grammy Nom Successful World Tour I'm sure you all can think of more. Any interviewer that doesn't want to come across as an unprepared ignorant dumb-ass, has plenty of material. There will be folks with an agenda, I suppose. I'm thinking mostly of smart-ass DJs that Adam will have to deal with for the new song/album promo. The maintenance of the mustache/goatee with the dying and color filling seems too high for when he gets into the crazy busy public appearance mode. I can't imagine Adam sweating through a concert with that face hair. Ok I agree there is a lot of stuff to ask about but Idol ALWAYS seems to pop up. Look how long Jhud has been off the show and she has won A FRIGGIN OSCAR and even she still gets asked about it, etc etc. It's kind of inescapable. I suppose that even if Adam puts out a smash album he will still have people bringing it up. Plus, whether we like it or not, a lot of interviewers are lazy and don't really do their homework or try to think of new and intelligent questions--i.e see all the questions he used to get about eyeliner and meeting Madonna lol--and that's why we get excited when a really good interview is done. I suppose we will get our fair share of good interviews and bad, and in the end it's up to Adam to shed the AI stigma with great music. ITA with everyone! I've always liked and had great respect for KD Lang, but that line of thinking is ridiculous and naive. She's been around the block enough to know that it's not how it works in this world and maybe she's trying to make a point for the music purists, but there are extremely talented people all over this world who will NEVER make it big. I was at a mall in Anaheim the other night and walked by a busker who was singing more beautifully than I've heard from most of the Idol contestants this year. And she knows better than to say, "If she had it, she would eventually find her way ..." I call BS on that. There are a millions of people with incredible voices who will never be heard outside their own little burg or YT channel for every Britney Spears in this world. Everyone's path is different. I just don't get how people can judge the route or risk that others take because it is not in line with their own path or experience. And RE: Idol during promo; Adam's PR people can request talking points and the more work they do for the interviewer/producer, the more likely they can steer them away from that fallback. They'll probably still ask it, but it doesn't have to be primary talking point. One advantage, if he drops in fall is that Idol will not be in season, so they won't be trying to get the double hits from both tags.

Welcome, evie1512!!! wplj.com/Article.asp?id=2169676&spid=36851Kelly Clarkson & Adam Lambert Rooting for Haley ReinhartAmerican Idol contestant Haley Reinhart may be a perpetual fixture in the bottom three, but at least two famous American Idol alumni are rooting for her. Last Thursday, April 21st, Adam Lambert tweeted, "Just caught up on Idol via YouTube....HALEY! Head and shoulders above the rest. Gave me chills. Effortlessly badass." And after watching Haley perform Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" last Wednesday, April 20th, Kelly Clarkson tweeted, "Way to go, Haley Reinhart! You did really well on Idol tonight...great song choice! Can't wait to hear a record from you!" ...

Yeah and even Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera went on Star Search! Fergie and Justin Timberlake were on kiddie tv shows! I'm sure alot more artists I can't think of right now went on talent shows, etc. Didn't Elvis even do state fair competitions or something? Yes it's different but Idol is kinda the same thing--just on a much much larger scale.

She was reaching her peak when daughter was born, and changed her priorities to take care of her. I'll remember her for that as much as her musical talent. And the line of PM that says "turns me into a giggling teen"--and "you make everything alright"--that's what Adam does. So glad to have him, his music, his positive light and joy to counteract/balance the sad parts of life!

Oh, and one more thing before I take off. I get--and ITA--that part of what k.d. says in that interview is naive. She started out so long ago--SHE may not have made it herself in today's music biz. But I love her, and I don't think she intended at ALL to be dismissive of the talented people on AI--just of the process...making "taste" fit what Simon Cowell thinks is good--that's what she meant IMO. And I agree with that. AI actually irritates the shit out of me, but I can't dismiss its value as k.d. does because it does give a platform to give young artists a chance for recognition. I would never have know about Adam if not for AI. THAT ALONE is enough to redeem the cracked process in my eyes. (And she should consider saying yes IF anyone ever asks to cover her music--she'd get a sales bump and a wider audience--not that she's hurting. J/S) ETA: Spindleshay's doing kind of a Phoebe retrospective on twitter--won't embed, but here's one for the road for Phoebe lovers--kind of jazzy. Ya know, that's another genre I'd like to hear Adam sing some day. (duh--I want to hear him sing every genre ever known to man. : www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SESmndcKI0&feature=youtu.be

Chunkey:
Yep! Actually, I've read (or heard - morning DJ I listen to is an Elvis freak, so he talks about him all the time) that Elvis did tons of talent shows when he was trying to break in. He was doing every one that he could get to for a period of time and was runner-up in some podunk one right before he hit big. LOL.
Britney and Christina were also on Mickey Mouse Club, so they would have gone through the same casting/audition process that Idol does, just not on TV. And it's Disney; so looks/personality are weighted dead even with talent.

But she's been around in the business for a long time. I am not sure if she is considered famous or not, I didn't hear about her until Adam. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alisan_Porter

LambertUK Adam Lambert UK Moscow OKs First Gay Pride March - On Top Magazine - bit.ly/g8obSb -- Hmm, this co-incides with Adam's concert date, doesn't it? 44 seconds ago "This year's authorized May 28 march will take place between 1PM and 3PM at Bolotnaya Ploshchad."
