wow musicgirl - what a coincidence! It is great that they started the streaming and the movie theater initiatives - so the whole world can enjoy! Please tell me what you thought after you see the show on the 14th! Also - there are ways to get into the Met for an affordable amount - just keep that in mind for your next visit to NYC - I'll try and help with that!

Morning, I just got this message from Angelina Kalahari, who did the excellent program on Adam's music a couple of week's ago: Just wanted to let you know that I've received an email from the radio station - my second Adam-related programme, The singer as interpretative artist" will now be broadcast tonight (Tues 3 May) at 9:00pm UK time. ( www.mywordradio.com ) If you have time to tune in, I hope you'll like it! Lots of love, Angelina This program is not exclusively on Adam's music, but I think she will use Adam's vocals as well as some others in discussing interpretation of songs. I am not quite sure, but it should be a great program. It will be on at 4:00 EDT, 3:00CDT, and 1:00 PDT, this afternoon. Hope some of yall will enjoy it and help spread the word. Thanks!

On Sunday I posted the following on the daily thread. To get the full effect, you need to listen to the version posted here, and then, immediately after, listen to Adam's version. Just didn't want to put that many links into the post: May 1, 2011, 4:57pm, seoulmate wrote: Sign me up for this as well. But, thinking about it, don't we actually already have this? Go to YT and watch the Dancing Thru Life video that shows four or five different Fiyeros singing. I like Adam the best, and that is in a very staged, limiting setting where he couldn't really make it his own. Then, go and watch Yvonne Elliman singing "If I Can't Have You" How about the original Play That Funky Music: Dare I go there???? Johnny Cash singing "Ring of Fire" Here's a contestant from X factor singing "Feeling Good" Gary Jules live "Mad World" Or the X Factor contestant "Mad World" that is a direct rip-off of Adam's version: And, being bold to the point of being sacrilegious, Led Zepplin: And THAT'S why I love Adam!!! Now, imagine my surprise when Angelina did the same thing on her radio program this week! She played original versions back to back with Adam versions of WLL, One, and Ring of Fire. To listen to the Adam part of her program, go to (not the best sound quality, but you get the gist of what she is doing) devenlane I GOT YOUR SAUSAGE MY RIP OF MY WORD RADIO SOUNDBATH ADAM'S PART OF THE SPECIAL FROM TODAY, MAY 3 TO DL bit.ly/lJRibd OR LISTEN bit.ly/iYseodSo happy that Angelina is doing this! ETA: Wanted to make sure y'all knew that I was NOT accusing Angelina of stealing my idea. She recorded that program a couple of weeks ago. Just a strange moment of serendipity.

Cassie, thank you for reposting here - I missed it on the Sunday thread... especially Angelina's program! First of all I just love listening to her talking voice - it is so melodic - both timbre and intonations!
The Fiero comparison is very telling, and not only the sounds but the dancing/movement as well! Adam is much more expressive and commited...
The "classics": WLL - I am imprinted on Adam's version, so it is very hard to compare. They are both "sexy", in different ways, Adam does much more "singing", and I love clear voices...
One - I've never heard U2 before and I actually liked their version. Adam's voice and interpretation, for me, though are more expressive and passionate...not to mention the vocal quality.
ROF - I remember listening to JC's original two years ago and actually laughing at the JC's rendition - it does not reflect the lyrics..no passion, no love... nothing... weird actually.. "wild desire"? staccato? really? Dilana's version is of course more appropriate to the lyrics, but the passion and urge and desire in Adam' s performance is penetrating....
THE INCOMPARABLE MR ADAM LAMBERT INDEED!

Just finished listening to Angelina on Xena and Juneau's radio program this evening. She talked about her radio program and her campaign to get Adam heard in the UK. She said, point blank, that Adam's voice is the most extraordinary that she has ever heard--- and you know that she has heard and sung with some of the best voices out there. Then she talked about the phenomenon of kid singers going big because of YT and reality shows. They played Jackie ???? can't remember her last name, but we discussed her on this thread some time back. Angelina was very concerned about her because she said that Jackie's sound in "manufactured", not natural, and that she is singing all wrong. Her voice will not stand up to it, and she won't be able to have a career singing if she continues like she is. If you have the chance to listen, check it out. Go to onthemeaningofadamlambert.wordpress.com/ and click on the blogtalk radio link on the right side of the page. Angelina comes on at about 8 minutes into the show, so start it there. Once Angelina comes on, she does a majority of the talking, and I always enjoy listening to what she has to say.

Cassie for the comparison between original versions and Adam's on the U2 song I really think Adam's performance was based more on the duet with Mary J. Blige version. Here is the link, could you check it out and see what you think? www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpDQJnI4OhU

Posted this on the daily thread, but thought it also fit here.
Angelina Kalahari's most recent radio program is now up on YouTube. She is talking about the singer as an interpretative artist. She starts with discussion of all the skills an opera singer must master before they are ready to be a professional performer. Then, she gives examples of two sopranos and two tenors assailing particularly difficult and emotional arias. She follows that with two samples of emotional songs from movies.
What has this to do with Adam, you ask? Wait for it. Wait for it. She then moves on to great interpretive artists in pop/rock music today. Guess who? Yup. Adam is her example. She plays several of Adam's cover songs by the original artists, and then plays Adam's versions right after. Smart lady. She doesn't gush about Adam's versions, but by playing them in contrast to the original artists she demonstrates how great his interpretations are.
Plus, Angelina has told me in an email that she agreed to do this series of radio programs only if she could feature Adam's voice prominently. Her hidden agenda is to expose more people to Adam! So, I strongly suspect the subtext of last week's program was that all the skills she discusses that opera singers must master are skills that Adam has in his arsenal. And, she plays Adam Lambert on the same program with Maria Callas and Pavarotti. Pretty lofty company. Sneaky Adam fan, Angelina!
You can listen to the first segment of the program here: From there you can link to the subsequent segments. Or you can go directly to the segment where she starts to talk about Adam at about 8:00.
But, I recommend that you listen to part one at least before the arias (if opera is not your thing) to hear her discuss the skills/training needed by opera singers (and, by inference, skills displayed by Adam).
ETA: I realize that Angelina did something similar to my post earlier with examples of the original artists doing songs that Adam covered. Although Angelina had recorded her program a couple of weeks earlier, I promise I had no idea that she was doing that when I posted. Great Adam fans' minds must think alike.

I will just bow to your expertise. But I do hear similarities between some of Blige's riffs and Adam's.

cassie thank you for posting this. I love what Angelina is trying to do, hehehe!!!
I listened once again to "One". I listen to it every day in my car and every day it gives me chills. When he sings,
Love is a temple Love a higher law Love is a temple Love the higher law You ask me to enter But then you make me crawl And I can't be holding on To what you got When all you got is hurt
I can feel it in my bones. I dont know what else to say. I wish he and Bono would meet and sing this song together someday. It will blow everyone's mind.

cassie. A question just came to mind. I'm watching DWTS and Adele is the special guest singer. They interviewed her and mentioned she had laryngitis and would have to lower the range for her. Since I've never had laryngitis, does a singer get this condition from straining the notes she can't reach, and since she is singing, will it damage her chords??
