Thank you for that assessment of Adam's vocal prowess, cassie. I really don't know much about the technical aspects of music, but you clearly do, and thanks to you I can memorize enough information to have ammunition the next time some idiot says there is nothing special about Adam's voice--or worse, "all he can do is scream." When someone says that, I think it's only fair that they be quickly and thoroughly killed.

Just able to put in my avi. I'll size it so Just Karen will approve later. I now have the smiling at each other (Adam and Sauli) photo as my desktop wallpaper--decided it was time to replace the GNT Adam in full costume.
ETA: Fixed size. Hooray!

A little OT but relates to Adam in the sense of the hate comments after an article about him: Oh my, I thought Adam got lots of hate, idiotic and philosophical comments after articles about him - but this JB Rolling Stone comment section makes me feel sort of sad for him. He is not my cuppa... but what a pile on of negative about his comments www.rollingstone.com/music/news/justin-bieber-talks-sex-politics-music-and-puberty-in-new-rolling-stone-cover-story-20110216ETA: and the USA vs. Canada chest pounding going on by some in those comment is also sad commentary on the state of nations getting along and appreciating the positive rather than the negative. OK, back to happy Adam vacation thoughts:-)

It is much easier if they start early. The school my grandkids (ages 6 & 9) attend in Atlanta teaches French in every grade. I think they have four full time French teachers for the school. The preschool they attended taught French and Spanish - you got to choose which your child would take. My 6-year old grandaughter also has been taking Chinese in private lessons for 2 years. It's amazing what a little sponge brain a 6-year old can have. Sadly, this doesn't always work! My son went to a Montessori school and supposedly learned Spanish & French starting at 15 months old. Most of the kids spoke fairly well in both languages by kindergarten - my son and a few others seemed to be "language intollerant" ;D and he only managed to learn a few words in either language (however, in math, science, music & reading he was way ahead of his age) I am dreading when he has to learn a language in High School - I suspect it will not be a fun experience for any of us. For my granddaughter all it took was to hit her teenage years and discover boys. :-/ She too went to Montessori school, learned a few songs etc. in Spanish, she took French in high school two years. Her father is Brazilian and so is her step-mother, they speak mostly Portuguese at home, the 6 1/2 yrs. my daughter and her father were together she did not learn any Portuguese. She spent every summer in Rio with family started speaking a limited amount of Portuguese. Hit her teenage years and now she is fluent in Portuguese, her past two boyfriends are Brazilian. I spent the day with her last week and she bounces back and forth from Portuguese to English, she spends so much time on Skype with her boyfriend speaking Portuguese she gets confused. She is not interested in boys here in the US at all, they are cool to have as friends, not boyfriends. So, if you are a teenage girl and like boys from another country I guess you are willing to learn their language. Puppy Love :-/

There's currently a Bill pending in the legislature in Colorado. I'm anxious to see what happens.
