Thank you for that assessment of Adam's vocal prowess, cassie. I really don't know much about the technical aspects of music, but you clearly do, and thanks to you I can memorize enough information to have ammunition the next time some idiot says there is nothing special about Adam's voice--or worse, "all he can do is scream." When someone says that, I think it's only fair that they be quickly and thoroughly killed. Very glad to be of service. In the end, it doesn't matter if you know about vocal techniques, only whether you like what you hear. But, what I hear from Adam is so rare and so masterful that I want other people to realize what a gifted artist he is. As far as responding to people saying he screams, I have to disagree with you. Quickly killing them is too kind. Slowly torturing them til they scream would demonstrate the difference between singing and screaming!

Sadly, this doesn't always work! My son went to a Montessori school and supposedly learned Spanish & French starting at 15 months old. Most of the kids spoke fairly well in both languages by kindergarten - my son and a few others seemed to be "language intollerant" ;D and he only managed to learn a few words in either language (however, in math, science, music & reading he was way ahead of his age) I am dreading when he has to learn a language in High School - I suspect it will not be a fun experience for any of us. For my granddaughter all it took was to hit her teenage years and discover boys. :-/ She too went to Montessori school, learned a few songs etc. in Spanish, she took French in high school two years. Her father is Brazilian and so is her step-mother, they speak mostly Portuguese at home, the 6 1/2 yrs. my daughter and her father were together she did not learn any Portuguese. She spent every summer in Rio with family started speaking a limited amount of Portuguese. Hit her teenage years and now she is fluent in Portuguese, her past two boyfriends are Brazilian. I spent the day with her last week and she bounces back and forth from Portuguese to English, she spends so much time on Skype with her boyfriend speaking Portuguese she gets confused. She is not interested in boys here in the US at all, they are cool to have as friends, not boyfriends. So, if you are a teenage girl and like boys from another country I guess you are willing to learn their language. Puppy Love :-/ it is definitely true - the earlier one gets exposed to foreign languages the easier it is to learn. And the more languages one knows the easier it is to learn yet another one. Unfortunately, in the US there is this "attitude" of "why do I need to bother learning when everyone speaks English"... may be now, with globalization it is changing a little... The thing is that any foreign language opens a whole new world, new ways of expressing yourself, new culture, gives one the ability and pleasure of reading great works in their original form (especially when it comes to poetry - no translation can get to the level of the original)... but it is not easy, and getting to the point of real fluency takes time and dedication and a good "ear" does not hurt... In EU there are many more possibilities for "immersion" - a few hours drive away... - what a great set up!
