Being himself: Adam's quest for authentic celebrity. His tweets say this now... I thought he had always been pursuing this....
. I think he's re-evaluating what "authentic celebrity" means and how realistic his initial impression of it was. It's always been my belief and observation that we think we know it all about a subject until we are confronted with it. It's like thinking you can write a book on child rearing when you don't have any kids. The ideal vs real. Anyway, I think Adam is realizing you can't always be the accommodating, stop and chat, nice guy or celebrity will eat you alive. One of the cool things on this website is that most people get that and respect the boundaries that should be in place anytime 2 people are interacting. Why is it okay to reach up and touch Adam's (perfect, beautiful, expressive) face when you wouldn't do the same to your accountant or lawyer - or brother-in-law, for that matter. He is learning day by day, as he said, and good for him for verbalizing what he has learned and now expects from us. And Cassie I loved your Cheeks post from last night. |

Katri tweeted that they are gonna leave NYC today. So who are "we" we don't know, that's speculation :D. Ah ok, I see! And IMO it is not only Cheeks who is getting attention because some "fans" want to get information / be part of Adams inner circles.... :  |

In this moment, in Italy is 2:18 Pm. I'm curious : In your nation? Here write only Americans? Or are there people from other countries? Today is curiosity's day  I'm from Greece and its 3.21 pm here you curious boy, hahaha!!!! Oh and we have people here from all over the world New Zealand, Israel, Hawai, Russia, Finland, UK, Canada, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, I dont even remember any more!!! That is what makes ATOP so much fun, just the thought that there are people, fans, here from all over the world. Weird, but in the back of my mind I often think if I were traveling in Greece, New Zealand, etc, and something awful happened, there would be someone to call and help get it resolved. I would trust an Adam fan before I'd trust the American Embassy. |

My thoughts on the friends and family issue:
I completely get where Cheeks is coming from and I'd imagine he's been biting his tongue for almost two years now. He acknowledges and is self-aware enough to know that's why he's got a heighten public profile, even though he's never done anything to cultivate that profile other than put out his art. I'd imagine him to be appreciative while at the same time a little sad.
Remember Cheeks was working on his music before any of us knew who Adam was and I'd imagine, as an artist, it's a little sobering to realize that your own talent might not be the reason someone initially became interested in you.
Adam can be 100% sure that his fans are his fans because of his talent and not some outside force which he has no control over and which really has nothing to do with his own talent. Cheeks does not have this luxury so every fan is looked at a bit differently. They are no less valued but there is a bit of taint there I'm sure...it's just like when someone tries to become friends with a famous person, you ask are they really trying to be my friend because I'm a good person or because I'm famous? Cheeks must question whether someone is a fan because he's talented or because he once fucked Adam Lambert.
I hope those who found Cheeks because of Adam have found him to be as talented and entertaining as he truly is and they are now fans of Cheeks the artist not Cheeks the ex-boyfriend of Adam Lambert.
On a similar topic there is Tommy Joe who none of us would know had he not joined the band and certainly none of of would have paid attention to had Adam not kissed him on the AMAs and then during the concerts. Tommy has developed his own fanbase separate and apart from Adam but it can't be denied that he has those fans because of Adam. I see some resentment within the Adam fandom that Tommy's fans seem to like him above Adam, like it's an insult to Adam or something.
I don't believe that's how Adam would see it at all. I'd imagine Adam would want Tommy/Cheeks/Cherry's/Raja/etc fans to splinter off and be fans of these people on their own merits and not because they are connected to him.
