.... The reference to not being PC might mean that he has moved from the gay-themed songs that were on Trespassing (OOL, Trespassing) to more general, universal themes. More like WWFM and what Sam Smith did with SWM. Less PC for a "gay, gay, gay" artist to do. .....
I don't think it's considered PC for a gay artist to move away from gay themes. There was nothing politically incorrect about Sam Smith's album (I know, I own it and listen to it). It's very middle of the road and quite generic overall (and I say that as someone who is a fan). I can't see Adam ever making that far of a shift towards the middle. He's just to eccentric and has too bold of an idea of who he is and how he wants to be presented as an artist. His pre-idol stuff shows his strong artistic personality too IMO.
Then we agree on the lack of PC-ness of Sam Smith. I also own and like his album. I did not say anything about Adam being MOR -- and can't see anything in what he said that indicates that. But even Adam said that TOH deals with more universal themes -- and I think that is was he MIGHT be referring to with the PC reference.

I guess I'm getting confused, because he said it's NOT PC, and being more universally themed would be MORE PC wouldn't it?

I may be the only one, but I thought Adam's description of TOH seemed to be just PR. I seem to recall him saying similar things about Trespassing. It is difficult to sell an album when you cannot disclose any details about the songs. Especially for someone like Adam, who doesn't do a single style or genre, but enjoys mixing things up. So, he ends up saying it is "real" or 'dark" or "personal" or "less PC."
I don't really have any idea what it is gonna sound like other than it will have a dance beat. And Max Martin is the king of pop music. Sigh.

Did Adam say TOH was less PC, or was that just a phrase that the reporter used? I have not read or listened to everything, but it seemed to me the PC comment was not a direct quote.
On another note, I would like to find a photo that Dr Bri posted some time ago of the crescent moon with the dark part of the moon illuminated by earthshine, creating a full circle with a bright crescent at the bottom, and the rest of the moon far less bright, but still with craters and other features visible. If anyone remembers where it was posted (brianmay.com, Brian's Soapbox, drbrianmay.com, or ?) or approximately when it was posted, that would be a great help in my search.
Thanks.

My curiosity is piqued by Adam's description: "stuff that 's not always so easy to talk about, not so PC" - what does he consider PC/not PC, I wonder?
Some of what gets dismissed as PC I think of as just being informed and/or respectful (for example, moving beyond using "Redskins" as a team name or mascot, that sort of thing). But, of course, I can understand the eyeroll that, say, using the term "animal companion" instead of "pet" gets. But, I wonder, what does ADAM want to say that could be considered un-PC?
Hasn't Adam also talked about lyrics revealing some things that aren't likeable about him?
I want to hazard a guess, I hope without rubbing anybody the wrong way.
I think Adam could have some lyrics about the "highs" of new relationships vs. long-term ones. And I think, possibly, Adam could consider it kind of un-PC to sing too favorably about the former, what with same-sex marriage being such an important part of equal rights progress right now. He might think it could be seen as unlikeable to say, in effect, "okay, things have run their course," moving on.
(I don't think that's unlikeable, but he might think some people could see it that way.)
Rather than speculate, I could and probably should just wait.
