I 'm with Dancy. Can't whistle but can (or could!) dance! Speaking of dancing, I just got back late last night (plane was delayed several hours) from visiting my Dad for a few days. My Dad is 85. One by one I've seen him have to give up various activities - hiking, backpacking, bicycling, and other outdoor activities. He is very slow walking and has to be very careful, especially going down stairs, and uses a walking stick when walking further then from his house to car. BUT, HE CAN STILL DANCE!!!! And the ladies LOVE him! And he has several dance partners! We went dancing 2 nights while I was visiting. Friday night we ate & danced at Mama's Blues Room where we danced between the tables. Saturday night we danced at JJ's Dancehall Lounge, a local honky tonk bar, which actually had a nice little dance floor. Both places had local bands (Dad prefers dancing to live music) playing popular oldies and country. The first band even played Fat Bottomed Girls! The bass player said that he saw Queen live in '75, in New Orleans. And he knew Queen was touring with Adam!
My Dad loves Freddie! The only video that he has purchased for his Amazon Kindle Fire HD is the Queen Rock Montreal video!!! I was hoping that he would love Adam, but that has been a long slow process. When Dad, by brother, and I went on vacation to Colorado JuLY 2010, neither of them wanted to listen to my FYE or Idol CD's of Adam. They complained of his "screaming". Then during a visit to Dad's a year or two ago, I was playing WWFM from Acoustic Live over Dad's stereo system as I was working on his computer. Dad came into the room and wanted to know who was singing. I told him it was Adam and he said that maybe he would have to change his mind about Adam. PROGRESS! Then during this visit, I was setting up Amazon Prime Music streaming service on Dad's Kindle. After loading a lot of Dad's favorites to his Amazon Prime Music library, he asked me if there was any Adam music on Amazon Prime Music! Acoustic Live was not one of the free albums, but FYE and Trespassing are, so I selected both of those. And then I played Shady for him which is my favorite from Trespassing. Shady is a great song for dancing the West Coast Swing dance which I knew Dad would hear. He liked it! Can't wait to buy Dad TOH and Acoustic Live for his Kindle!!!
So, this brings up a problem that I am hoping that some of you might have some suggestions for. Dad has ok distant vision, but his near vision is really bad and getting worse. He loves to read, but even the large print books from the library are not large enough now. On his 8.9" Kindle, he has to use the very largest text size for reading books and that is just about right. But selecting the large text size for books does not change the text size for any of the other applications on his Kindle. So he cannot read the artist/album/song names in the music app on the Kindle, etc. He has to guess by the album picture. The problem is even worse on his cell phone. I have looked all over for a good cell phone where EVERYTHING is in large text and cannot find one. It has to work in a small town where cell phone carriers are limited, AT&T is the only one with a local store.
ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR CELL PHONES, TABLETS, ETC, WITH LARGE TEXT THAT CAN BE READ BY SOMEONE WITH REALLY BAD CLOSEUP VISION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
I don't know anything specific. My daughter belongs to Amazon's Audible book club. She spends all summer gardening and listening to books. Actually, whenever she does chores, she's listening. She uploads many of her books onto an old iPod for her father. They both often read on their Kindles and listen at the same time. Anyway, that made me think of text-to-speech phones. AARP might have some suggestions.

I am quite good at whistling, I can dance, I can roll my tongue and I can snap my fingers. BUT - I always have been in awe of people who can make a knot into a cherry stem with their tongue... How the heck does that work? And I have no excuse, because I spent a lot some time in bars and still can't do it I cannot tell you my secrets....... For us old-timers on Planet Fierce and Atop--We are getting very close to needing the video on how to fold fitted bed sheets. HA! One of the best discussions ever. Anyone remember the discussion when one member said she vacuumed in the nude when she was also doing laundry. Because everyone washes every bit of clothing on laundry day and that leaves nothing to wear. Cracked me up. Maybe that person is still here.

Thanks for this, LadyM! It's one of my favs. And it has that special shot at 2:50 when he's in the audience. Roger and Brian seemed pleased to have pulled it off - they only did it a few times.

♥ Adam Lambert is ♔ foxvegas · 3m3 minutes ago Great read: "I’ve recently become very interested in all things Adam Lambert...my current celebrity crush." fb.me/4s0eEjlfN #ALFC
Adam Lambert Fan club
Of him I wish to muse aloud: What's so great about Adam Lambert - by cultureguru Adam Lambert is releasing a new single called “Ghost Town” sometime this month, to be followed by a full album this summer. I know this, along with many other Lambert facts, because I’ve recently become very interested in all things Adam Lambert. He is my current celebrity crush.
I am a bit weirdly monogamish about these. At any time, I of course enjoy the work and attractiveness of any number of celebrities. However, there is generally just one that I prefer above all others. Currently, that’s Lambert. He succeeds Roger Daltrey. Whom, I believe, succeeded Spike, as portrayed by James Marsters…
So I may have a “type” when it comes to celebrity crushes. A cool, steampunk, glitter-rock vampire with, like, tats and guyliner… — Blaine’s description of Adam’s character (who is basically Adam) on Glee
Of course, for an actual relationship, this type is completely unrealistic—starting with the fact that I will never meet these people. And if I ever did, I would never be beautiful or charming or interesting enough for them. I’d just be another fan.
Although this kind goes both ways. I mean, who would actually want to date a celebrity? Your life suddenly made public? Your identity subordinated to someone’s else’s fame? And having to deal with an artistic temperament? With a partner who’s always off on tour or shooting on location? Who is constantly being tempted by adoring fans and groupies, or having to make out with his coworkers? No thanks!
So, a celebrity crush is all about fantasy. And its unrealistic nature goes beyond just the celebrity vs normal person thing. For example, with Roger Daltrey, I wasn’t really into the present tense him. I mean, dude’s 71 years old! He looks great for his age… But he’s still basically a grandpa.
No,it was the Daltrey of the 60s, 70s, and 80s that I was into. This was a “time travel” crush.
Now, actor James Marsters is only moderately older than me; his present tense self was just fine, age-wise. Thing is, though, I didn’t really have a crush on “actor James Marsters”. I was really more into his character, Spike. Who was really very different from Mr. Masters. So this was a “fiction” crush. “Double fiction” really, as this was not only a fictional character, but a fictional creature as well. A vampire!
And Adam Lambert? He’s only 33, and he’s not fictional, so that’s all good. But he is gay. And not in “I can just pretend he’s bisexual” kind of way, but gay gay. So this would be a “sexuality is just construct” crush (or something. I have to keep working on that label.)
At any rate, I’m hardly alone in this impractical attraction.
Lambert is handsome — six feet one and 185 pounds, with patrician features and sky-blue eyes — and he’s unrepentant about flirting with both sexes. Even when you know that he’s gay, it’s hard not to find him physically attractive. And that’s the way he likes it. “I loved it this season when girls went crazy for me,” he says. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s all hot.”
It appears that even some straight men get caught up in it. At the first few notes of Don’t Stop me Now, husband looked up. “Fucking hell,” he said, “he’s gorgeous”. This is a guy who is normally fairly heterosexual. — From My Bad Ass Alter Ego (a truly terrific blog about Adam, Queen, and music performance in general)
But it’s not just his physical beauty, or his incredible level of fitness, though both are quite remarkable. (Particularly that his fashion and style sense have a come a long way since his Idol days.)
Because there are a lot of gorgeous, well-dressed celebrities. Not too many of them, however, sing as well as Adam Lambert does. His voice is often described as “angelic”.
Which again, might not be enough, if he didn’t also sing songs I really enjoy. I am truly grateful that he has revitalized Queen, my favorite band, breathing new life into their music and allowing me to see them in concert for the first time.
Adam Lambert’s beautiful interpretation of one of Queen’s best songs: “Who Wants to Live Forever”
He was also an incredible interpreter of many styles on American Idol, which I caught up with via a 2.25 hour YouTube clip! Besides “Mad World”, I also especially liked his take on Johnny’s Cash’s “Ring of Fire” and Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”. His own solo output is pretty small at this point—two studio albums, one live—but also quite enjoyable.
And he not only has the vocal chops; he is a performer. In concert, he is charismatic and fun. And quite the dancer.
I also appreciate that in interviews and such, Adam comes across as a rather sweet person, with an endearingly goofy side. He never seems to take himself too seriously.
But he’s not all kittens and puppies. It’s good for a celebrity crush to have a bit of a dark side, for interest. Daltrey seems a very decent guy, but still had a temper (and more than few illegitimate children). Spike became one of the good guys on Buffy, but still and always—vampire! And Adam? Well, he’s the guy who nearly won American Idol, then scandalized middle America with his crotch-thrusting, tongue-kissing performance on the American Music Awards show. Remember?
Basically, the things he does with his hips, microphone stand, and tongue while performance are, well, not exactly “angelic”.
And what does my actual life partner thinks about my celebrity crushes? Well, he’s mostly confused by them. He doesn’t have his own, and doesn’t see the point of obsessions with the imaginary.
But he’s come to accept it as something I enjoy that is no threat to him–except for his having to attend a few more rock concerts or watch a few more vampire shows than he might otherwise choose to.

I'm not worried about this guy relaesing another version of the song. It recon it will get as much attention as any other cover. But Adam and his team controlled the amount of music and lyrics we get to hear, to create as much suspension as possible, and this guy seems to have just stumped on it all. Mr. Sterling Fox I am not amused by your unprofessionalism...screwing with Adam's planed roll of the song and giving out (maybe) lyrics to the song. Pardon my French and my perhaps off-topic comment, but I so fuckin' hate the contemporary matrix of Pop song writing & production, in which potentially successful songs can apparently only be created within a "commercially-correct" group mind, composed of individuals that are part of an industry-accepted or industry-recognized clique, common to so many different Pop recording artists, from A to Z. I am so looking forward to a single or an album, in a distant future, in which Adam will be the incontrovertible M-A-I-N creative force and not just a cog in that damn commercial wheel that makes the pop music go 'round. OK, I am most likely overreacting or even losing my mind in regards to this particular issue, but can I just repeat that I fuckin' hate the current matrix of pop music writing & production? How can one pursue or be all about artistic individuality and integrity within such a matrix (the POP music matrix)? That being said (and despite the convoluted and the distressed nature of my comment), I must admit that I absolutely LOVE the two teasers that Adam has shared with us for his next single, Ghost Town... Go figure! ;-)
