This is totally OT, but I had to go to Marfa yesterday, and found that I had missed this concert that was last Sunday with Mumford & Sons, and it made the news in Rolling Stone! I wasn't familiar with the other bands that played, click if you're interested. Imagine a concert like this in my neck of the (not) woods! www.rollingstone.com/music/news/mumford-sons-play-high-spirited-show-in-marfa-texas-20110426Mumford & Sons Play High-Spirited Show in Marfa, TexasRailroad Revival Tour brings Jake Gyllenhaal, other surprise guests along for the ride

From someone who comes from a family of follicly challenged men, Adam's hair is nothing short of miraculous. Neil and Eber both had lush full heads of hair.... who is follicly challenged in Adams' family? LOL, I meant me. I come from a family of follicly challenged men ... Speaking of ... terra_zephead: Actually he should just donate his facial hair to the prince William hair bank

Hug to Irish1139 Note to self: Learn lesson from Irish1139 and never ever EVER suggest in the Atopian forum that Adam might want to apologize about something. Stick to effusive praise. Much easier. Skylar, not so. You are entitled to your opinion. We are just going to disagree if we choose to and defend our right to say so to the n..th degree as much as we would defend your right to express an opinion to the same degree. Now on the other hand.. we can get lynch mobby from time to time Skylar: Of course you can have and express opinions all day long --- just as long as I agree with them Aw, heck. You can even express opinions that are totally WRONG. I hope you don't mind if I kindly point out your errors to you, bless your heart. One of the things I love about Adamtopia is the diversity of opinions, perspectives, and experiences, expressed civilly, gently, and often with wit and eloquence. The board would be a much less interesting place if all we did was effuse over every little thing including Adam's totally wrong fashion choice of shaving his head. : : Please continue to write your interesting and entertaining takes on Adam and the world. I enjoy reading them.

When he does something that I feel warrants an apology, by all means, I would say so. This just isn't one of them.

They make a beautiful couple and when he becomes king, he will be the people's king. I think they will bypass Charles and pass it to Will. He looks so much like Diana, handsome and tall and has her personality, but unfortunately he inherited the balding gene from her. I think he inherited it from Charles; it's the same pattern. It's a myth that balding comes from the mother's side. It can come from either your father or mother. My brother started losing his hair at 19, as did some cousins on my dad's side. My mom's brothers had full heads of hair well into their 60s. Now my nephew, 19, (sister's son, who already resembled Prince William) is showing signs of a receding hairline (the exact same pattern as William's). Such a bummer!!! My bro-in-law also a victim of male-pattern baldness, but it didn't start until he was in his 30s. From someone who comes from a family of follicly challenged men, Adam's hair is nothing short of miraculous. OMG! The things I stumble upon on Atop. This talk about baldness intrigued me enough to look it up and it lead me to this paragraph about the social perception of baldness and facial hair. LOL! In a study by Muscarella and Cunningham,[6] males and females viewed 6 male models with different levels of facial hair (beard and mustache or none) and cranial hair (full head of hair, receding and bald). Participants rated each combination on 32 adjectives related to social perceptions. Males with facial hair and those with bald or receding hair were rated as being older than those who were clean-shaven or had a full head of hair. Beards and a full head of hair were seen as being more aggressive and less socially mature, and baldness was associated with more social maturity. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BaldnessSo, I may have found the reason why I can't stand Adam's facial hair situation. HAHA!

Happy Birthday Aspen!!!ITA with so much have been said. I am in the Apologize for what?? team. As someone who has gone through a grueling creative program my entire college career where feedback and critique was handled quite badly (think Simon) and then experienced later creative programs where criticism was handled very well (think Oprah), I can tell you, the difference is profound. Like Holst and Jojo pointed out, effusive praise can be equally as damaging. I think the judges behavior this year borders on creative abuse – they praise, then Jimmy comes in and plays the villain role, which makes him seem even more mean and sinister and meanwhile, these kids have learned nothing. And they're going to be launched into an industry thinking they are the shit and get slapped in the face by the music industry machine. Adam grew up in theater and every theater production I've ever heard of, you get "notes" after each rehearsal. Usually the entire cast is given at once, so the director runs through them very quickly. In my experience, they were usually quite matter-of-fact – whatever the director saw at the moment, and jotted down that he or she thought needed attention: Joe, you missed your lighting cue; you were supposed to switch to the white spot on that ... Mary, you came in a half a bar too early. Jane: You were sharp on the second phrase of your solo. Adam has mentioned he is very used to taking notes and this is what he tried to convey to the other season 8 contestants because the judges' critique was messing with their heads (Lil). Does anyone have the compilation of Adam mentoring on last year's Idol? He did it very much the same way as this interview. He would compliment, then give constructive suggestion. That is valid. That is helpful. That is, IMO, the ideal balance for mentoring a creative. (It IS a very tenuous thing as I think everyone who has gone through their own creative battles knows.) An yes, he was asked and answered it directly and for him to duck giving constructive feedback would be as cowardly as the judges have been this year and that does no one any favors. And he owes no one an apology. ETA: Irish, I just saw your question about the "over James" thing. That was an indirect quote and I thought the way Shirley Halperin couched it, Adam was referring to being over the comparisons. However, she DID leave the qualifiers out to draw controversy and interest to the article. It worked. Spot on !

The minute I saw this picture, I thought of the famous Afghan Girl (by Steve McCurry) image. Same pose, I guess. Sorry, don't mean to be a buzzkill.
