OK. I understand what you two are saying and I understand your point of view. Of course Adam has every right to express his opinion. I also know these kids will survive the critique and it will help them develop a thicker skin. I am not judging Adam for having an opinion. (Well, maybe I am judging a little. I think his opinion has a lot of power.) I was wondering if there was something I didn't know about past contestants being asked to give their opinion. Looks like they are urged to do so. So, my lion eating the vulnerable comment was less about Adam and more about the system near the end with all the past contestants adding their opinions to the lot and choosing their favorites. That is part of what makes Idol Idol. It is brilliant in a kind of brutal way. But those kids come out super strong. And, I will openly admit that I am projecting my feelings, remembering what it is like when someone you really look up to and admire says something critical. I remember how much that could crush. Because I adore Adam insanely and see him as THE BAR I assume that these kids must as well. Developing a thick skin is important in life. Try as I might my skin is not very thick. I know I would have been crushed by harsh words from Adam if I was in Durbin's position with Adam as my role model/singing hero. So, yes, this is me projecting. Please accept it as nothing more or less : ) I assure you there is no need to defend Adam against my words. I need to toughen up a little. So if anything I need to take some pointers. Must say I'm loving these great responses though! IMHO James is too self assured to be crushed by Adam or anyone else.. That's his problem, he doesn't take advice. Basically that's what Adam was saying listen up.. and learn. I think Adam did him a favor. James has a lot of talent ,but he needs guidance on how to deliver it.Now if only the judges would judge . Absolutely, plus James' idol (according to James) is David Cook, not Adam... |

Exactly!!! The reason IMO that they're so upset is that Adam has a million followers and everyone listens to what he has to say while not everyone pays so MUCH attention to what the other idols have to say. Adam interviews are all over the media. They know that he influences people's mind. Every one who thinks Adam cannot speak honestly fuck them. Thirty pages late :-/ but have to say that everyone and their dog has had their opinion about the contestants and Adam is the only one who gets called out.  Fuck them!  Do we need to go back to Q3's famous description of Adam. (Paraphrased) (Insert Name) runs naked in Hollywood. Headline "Former Idol seen running naked in Adam's neighborhood" Q3 (Sorry I am sure I butchered it)  Adam is a hoopla magnet. We have to take the good and the bad. He gets major press for a hair cut. |

I'm with you on this one. I think when Adam gets a chance to think about it, he will probably apologize. Believe it or not, our wonderful Adam makes mistakes sometimes. I think that interview was one. Adam wasn't the only former idol talking about this year's cast. Several of them came out with their thoughts on the top ten. I think former idols should watch what they say about the current crew because it causes a backlash. Sometimes I wonder if Adam understands his power yet. Apologize for what?? Sorry but Adam did NOT say anything out of line or even derogatory toward James. I mean seriously WTH is going on when Adam can't say almost exactly what Michael Slezak and others have been saying FOR WEEKS without people getting their panties in a twist? I don't believe for one second that the former idols should measure their words regarding the current contestants, if anything they are MORE qualified than most to offer up an opinion because they've been there and done that. That's like saying that someone who is promoted shouldn't tell the person who took their old position how they can improve their performance. Adam didn't say James sucked, in fact he said he is talented and passionate about what he does. He also said he was note perfect (which is rarely the case). Adam shouldn't have to kiss some up and comers ass simply to avoid pissing off a few idoltards IMO. If he sheds some of the idol fandom in the process I say mores the better [/rant] YES, YES, YES !!!!  |
