This mornings numbers POP: 57 44 ADAM LAMBERT Ghost Town 1058 444 614 5.422
+58 Spins -9 Bullet +0.205 Audience
HOT AC: 46 34 ADAM LAMBERT Ghost Town 551 277 274 3.279
+16 Spins -16 Bullet +0.040 Audience
Steady climb. Seems good. I haven't gone back to add the total spins as I just started zeroing in on this chart around Wednesday but if might be fun to keep a rolling total tracking from the published Sunday report so we can try to estimate where he might land on the next report. Need something to do these days!

nice! compared to yesterday we have +2 positions on CHR and +1 position on HAC. We need about 320 spins more to get to #40 on CHR and about 170 to get #30 on HAC - looks doable in a week or so!

Seems so important to get to #40 on Hot 40. There are stations that won't spin unless it is in the top 40. Kind of a catch 22

I don't know if you all remember pjd, she was the numbers guru here on ATP. She wrote a really interesting post about radio charts. It's a nice read, and very informative - for me a refresher anyway!
"Just a couple of quick comments on the radio charts. On the Top40 chart, getting up to 40 takes a bit, but once it hits it then the song gets included in a lot of weekly countdowns and gets a bunch of new spins that way. (So part of the reason it is hard to break into the top 40 is that the songs already there are getting those extra spins) I think most peeps watching this think it will get into the top 40 sometime next week which would be awesome - it is moving much faster than any other of his past songs. This is very normal (or even better than normal) for anyone who isn't Brittany, Bruno, Katy, etc. You can see by looking at the bullet (difference between this week & last week) that this song is moving much fast on top40 than the other songs around it.
The other thing I've been seeing is that it is sort or a common rule-of-thumb that when a song gets around 10 million for Audience impression you start seeing it impact the songs sales. Top40 has far more impact on sales, so if that 10 million is mostly HAC it wont effect it as much as it would if the majority is Top40. Ghost Town currently has 5.422 for Top40 and 3.279 for HAC for a combined 8.7 million. It is not surprising that it really isn't showing up on iTunes charts at this point and isn't something to worry about. Peeps who are watching that say that it keeps peeking it way into the top200 at iTunes and then goes away for a bit and then is back again, so once the audience is bigger, it will probably move up into that chart and we can start watching that.
One other thing to consider with sales for GT, the push by WBR, Shosh, Adam to pre-order the album impacts GT sales. Every album pre-ordered received a "Free" copy of GT immediately - those do NOT count for sales. Clearly, they weren't concerned about the initial sales push for GT and are looking more for album sales & radio which will bring future single sales."

For those worrying about Ghost Town's iTunes position I'm going to give you some perspective from BTIKM's run. I didn't start keeping track of the iTunes position for the song until the day of the Ellen DeGeneres performance on the 19th which was the second TV performance. The first was one Jay Leno on the 17th.
Radio positions 2012/01/18 CHR/Pop 96 84 LAMBERT, ADAM Better Than I Know Myself 71 46 25 0.172

At this point BTIKM was a full month into release but radio was not nearly as on board as they are now for GT. I have been tracking GT on iTunes since the release and the lowest I have recorded the single is #208 on 5-6 and it has crept back up again since then. It was at #155 the morning of the Ellen performance and the highest I have it after was #111 the morning after. If it went higher than that during the day I don't know because I was at work so you'd have to check the thread on 5-1 to see if anyone reported it higher. It was not a huge boost because the song was already in the top 200 but it didn't drop back down as fast hitting #154 a full 4 days after whereas BTIKM was below it's pre performance level only 2 days later.
BTIKM never made it back into the top 200 or even into the 200's period even when the video was released on 2/3.
So relax everybody because GT is doing great.

So what does everyone think of the chances of GT in the top 40 in the Top40?
Looks like Chris Brown is catchable and Omni is only one spin ahead but moving up fast as well.
Who might go recurrent? How long has Rhianna/Kanye/McCartney been on the charts?
Looks like there is a gap after Omni to the next set of spins that doesn't seem like it will close in just a couple of days so maybe another week.
Whaddaya all think?

As far as I can tell from Pulse nothing is due to go recurrent for the next couple of weeks. GT should go up at least one spot probably by morning but that may be it for the week.

No likelihood of anybody going recurrent this week and very few over the next several according to Pulse. I'm thinking another week.

Adam should be around 1100 spins tomorrow and right now #40 is 1368 spins. There are no recurrents coming up but there are 3 songs above #40 that are dropping like lead balloons: Zedd, Sam Smith, and Tori Kelly. The spin counts are extremely high on CHR right now for some reason. Been this way for about 3 weeks (exactly the weeks since GT came out, of course!) usually around 550 would get you #50. Today, the #50 song has 873 spins! Quite crazy, actually!
