We have hoped for the day that Adam would not be defined as the runner-up (or winner) of American Idol's 8th season. I have thought that Adam not performing on Idol this season might be a form of distancing himself. In several interviews he has made a point of saying Idol was six years ago. Then, all of a sudden, with Idol announcing its upcoming last season, Adam is squarely tied to Idol again. But, I am cool with it because the meme is that Adam is an example of using Idol as a launch pad to start a successful, stellar career as a performer. Many articles go on to say that he is one of the very few, because he has the talent and the voice and the creativity and the courage to forge a successful career at the top of his field. Sort of saying Adam had the goods, and Idol was smart enough to latch onto him in Season eight. Finally, the articles seem to say that Adam was the best (male) vocalist and the most compelling and interesting contestant of the 14 years of broadcasts. And they support that with links to his videos. All this is painting Adam in a different light than just "runner-up on Season 8". It is framing him as a superstar in his own right. I like it. YES! The vast majority of the coverage I've seen is very complimentary! Good timing for TOH imo... (are we 100% sure he won't be on the finale tomorrow?)

Michele @sepiassecret ‘American Idol’: Thanks for the Memories! et.tv/1K4q7yt via @etnow 7. A Rock God Is Born
Glamberts: Imagine your lives without Adam Lambert. You can’t even, RIGHT? For his dear devotees, it was love at first sight, as Season 8 of Idol introduced his glorious range (omg “Mad World”!) and sexy stage presence to the world. Each time Lambert stormed the Idol stage, he pushed limits -- vocally and otherwise -- demonstrating that you don’t have to take top prize to get to the top.Video of Mad World (top 8) is included. NOT Adam related but the article ends with this: 12. The Short-Lived Phenomenon of Brian Dunkleman Apparently Idol could only handle one host with Barry Manilow hair. After the show's 2002 debut season, Ryan Secrest's sidekick, Brian Dunkleman, made a run for it. With the public confused and curious about his departure, he later said he just couldn't stand making kids cry. Now he's a stand-up comedian. Based on this tweet, Dunkleman just might be getting the last laugh.

Hmm, ET. Mad World has one of the smallest ranges of all the songs he did on the show. Anyways, you mean well, and there are many others who seem to remember this moment the most.

This is my 4000th post! So before I respond to the NYTS, I wanted to thank all the wonderful people that make this home. The amazing Q3 and all the other super generous mods and the Atop family. Like a family, we have our "moments" but we have grown up together as fans of this amazing icon. He has brought us so much joy - and no small part of that is the community that has constellated around him. I know because he has mentioned it, that he loves that he was a force for empowering us and helping us find each other - friends that we can travel and scream with, go BSC with , to agonize with , photograph, fight and make up. What a ride and what ride it continues to be!! Looking forward to the star that comes with 5000. TOH will be an inspiration for lots of posting. From the comments, I expected the worst with the NYTS but though the first one was not effusive, he was included! That alone is a victory. And the second one had a very nice idol picture. I am OK with it. Big difference from bitchy Jon Pereles

The timing of this is unbelievable. Could Adam have created such a huge press cycle just with GT and the album release in terms of bringing his name back to the general US consciousness? I don't think so. And maybe some of those original fans who thought he disappeared down some hole 5 years ago will realize he is mighty fine! I am hoping for lots of hits on the videos, you tubes etc. He could not have bought this if he wanted to.
