I thought he was lip syncing initially, his vocals were so spot on, glad that's been cleared up  Just watch it a few more times. The small errors are there. But it was a very near perfect performance. Apparently Adam wanted it the way they did it. Only doing the song without the interview. Would have loved him say at least a bit though. Yes, a fan can hear the subtle differences in this performance and the track. But it was perfect so I can understand non fans thinking it was lip synced! |

Trying to plan my tomorrow. Does the Finland concert start at 3PM Finland time? Did I read it lasts 4 hours? If so, that would be 7AM central in the morning. And do we know if there is a stream from the event, etc? (Belle may have given us this info, but my head is full of swirling appearances and times) ETA: I found Belle's last post. Seems the show runs 5 hours. I'm not sure about installing that add on to my computer to watch. Will have to see. Also don't see a mention of the starting time. On top of it all, he'll be in Helsinki tomorrow - and on my TV, yay! I have no idea when or if they publish performance schedule in advance and the concert is five hours long. I'm hoping the internet problems of my provider are over (it was down for most of the day today) and I can keep you posted - but if not, it's good that there's twitter and fans in the audience, so you should be able to get the necessary info. Would have loved him say at least a bit though. I'm curious what errors you saw because I didn't notice any..? What I heard was this: - The first note he hits sounded a bit off for me. It's a very hard note to start a song with. Especially because it goes up a bit in the word as well. The start of the 2nd verse was more stable.
- The 2nd My Heart is a Ghost Town I hear as a bit wobbly. That wasn't perfect on the Ellen performance either. Just like the start note that line is very stand alone and therefore hard to get right.
- Vampires was a bit of a variation that sounded weird to me. But maybe that was what he meant to do.
That's what I hear when I listen critically, but it was near perfect as I said. I bet Adam has some points for improvement in his mind, but he can be proud. It was way way better than the Ellen performance (and that was stunning already) and I think he practiced his lyrics somewhat as well after the error he made on the KTUphia performance. Watching the re-run of the program now, but of to bed soon. My country is mostly asleep so we'll have to see what he does on iTunes tomorrow. Also another concert to look forward to tomorrow! |

Creepy...? I don't get it...  Re comments about playback, I just watched the official show video & it seemed to me that there was a backing track adding a vocal layer in a few places (especially the " my heart is a ghost town" line). Perhaps that's what they meant? No lip synching, no autotuning, no sweetening...just another layer of sound in select places to give the live performance a similar effect to the recorded version, I think. Yes they added some backing vocals. Especially in the chorus. That will throw people off. Some discussion about this was also happening on twitter a bit ago between the sidekick and someone who had more knowledge. |
