I can't get over how he modulates his voice on this album....we never got that on either of his previous ones, he always sings spectacularly well but these songs are so fresh and new and different sounding...I'm usually not a fan of singers using affectation (glaring at all those female would-be talent show contestants UGH) but in Adam's case, like in Another Lonely Night, it works. He's using it sparingly and to a great effect. I can see Taylor Swift or Katy Perry singing "These Boys" - fun, silly song! Really think they'll go with the title track for the next single. Good album promotion. Loving Lucy and my heart still belongs to Evil in the Night.  Rumours Rumors (sorry, I'm from Canada...those damn "u's" just jump in, lol) is growing on me....sorta.kinda. |

I love Tove Lo, but that track is not very strong for a second single - reason to buy the album. It's pretty enough, but TOH has more hooks. Maybe number four? If they knew that Tove Lo would have hit with her solo stuff, they may have mixed it differently, IMHO. Adam seems to record his songs with the big names BEFORE they become big names! First, Nile Rodgers & Pharrell on TP, and now Tove Lo! I think that TOH will be the next single. Tove Lo is still working on singles from her debut album so not likely that she/Island would want another single with her out until Fall 2015 or later. >> I think "Rumors" could be the biggest hit from this album. Not the biggest fan favorite but the biggest radio single. JMHO YMMV. *** On Adam working with "big names BEFORE they become big names"....I agree with you about Tove Lo but not the other two. Nile Rodgers was huge long before Adam -- he co-created Chic, produced some of the best music by David Bowie and Madonna -- but Adam having Nile and Pharrel on the same album in 2012 was certainly ahead of the curve. Nile's production list is jaw dropping -- Sam Smith to Diana Ross. And Pharrell was well-established as a top producer before he became a solo artist. But |
