The last "spin increase" report showed 158 stations spinning GT! I am OK with today's report. Last weekend was SOOOOOO big it wreaked havoc on the updates ALL week. This week's updates should be good, with positive bullets, after tomorrow. I didn't want it to fall a place today and it didn't. If it could hold onto 28 or even 29, it should pick up a few places with the negatives and recurrents over the next 2 weeks. (No recurrents today) OFC, if it has peaked (which i don't think it has) that is a whole 'nother story. Arianna drops a new song on Tuesday. This album has been out a while, so not sure how it will be received by radio. Do you have a specific reason for the bolded part ? |

According to the SNOL site the are played on 140 stations. I think some of those stations run the show past midnight so some of the lost spins might be on Sunday's count but since the negative was on -71 there might have been a decent update if that spin had not been lost. The raw spin count for Saturday was 360 but the spin counts during the week were mostly up so I'm not really worried. Last weekend had big updates on Saturday & Sunday so I was prepared for this weekend to not be as big.

The bullet compares current 7 day increases to the previous 7 days increases. Last week's were skewed due to the big weekend increase. This week should be normalized. |

Generally when you have a strong update on a day's spins the following week will often be a more moderate update. Last weekend Sat & Sun were big updates so I was already expecting this weekends updates to be smaller so loosing the SNOL spin had a bigger impact. If that spin had been lost last weekend instead it probably would have been absorbed by the increase that getting the Subway Fresh Buzz spin on AT40 brought. This weekend there was no other big syndicated spin increase to absorb the loss of the SNOL spin. This past week M-F were moderate pluses with a couple of minuses but the leaders reports have shown most of the spin adjustments were in the 2-6 spin count range with only one or two of the leaders doing a big negative adjustment. Today's leaders counts range from 28-49 spins which is a nice tight spread, with nobody way out in front. I'm much more comfortable with the spin count being more evenly spread across stations than I would be if there were a few big leaders and the rest of the pack far behind. To date nobody has yet kicked in to max rotation.
For the album to have life after the first week radio play is important and it would not have been good for the song to be at peak now as we want it to continue to drive sales. There is plenty of opportunity for the song to build.

Or perhaps you are saying even if they pass GT, with the recurrents coming up GT should at least hold its position. Bieber and Selena are on the horizon as well with SNOL pimping Bieber and Tori Kelly's song is moving up well. But I think I am onboard with your analysis. Sounds about right. We have our work cut out though in going for visibility and spins for GT |

Thank you all for your updates of the numbers and your analyses and explanation.
One thing bothers me lately and it's the audience decrease. Don't you know why? Is it a bad thing or it's normal. And with the position of the song, shouldn't the audience be bigger?

I thought you might have seen some Starter data or other indicators. |

And with the position of the song, shouldn't the audience be bigger? The AI decrease is, IMO, due to KIIS LA and Z100 not spinning as much! Those are 2 HUGE AI sources. BTW, the playlist for both of those stations lies! It is not getting the spins their playlist implies. Have not heard it on KIIS in weeks. Maybe it is getting overnight spins there, IDK. but the big morning drive, noon, and evening drive spins have not happened for 2 weeks! :( ETA: Beiber is not a darling of radio, so i am not concerned about him. Maybe I should be? Tori will not have as quick a climb as last time. She was "artist on the verge" for her last single. She rose and fell fast because of that. Another thing to consider is the HAC chart. CHR watches the HAC climbers. Sometimes they add based on a song doing well there. I remember Kelly's "Stronger." KIIS didn't add it until it made #1 on HAC! Yup, crazy, huh?! So, making Top 20 on HAC will help CHR in a round about way! |

Maybe I am delusional, but it seems like there is some kind of strategy in place. I think the fact that KISS and Z100 are not spinning much is radio working with the label in order to get the timing right. I think Adam knows what is going on, and just this past week he indicated that they were going to be working the song this summer. It is a good single, and radio people legitimately seem to like the song.
