Just played an interesting game with numbers. Kelly C's last studio album (not xmas) debuted about 8 months before Trespassing and sold 163,000 it's 1st week. TP 1st week(77k) was 47.2% of that. KC's latest album Piece by Piece which came out this year debuted with 83,000. 47.2% of that is 39,176.
I honestly think if Adam sells around that number then that is pretty damn good because it means he is holding on to fans at least as well as Kelly C. even without courting the Country fans. Hahaha.
Honestly KC's sales of the latest were 51% of her previous album and I think the standard drop album to album for Idols has been about 60% so as long as he sells somewhere between 30-40k that would be in the acceptable sales range. Remember that as bad as some thought the 77k for Trespassing was those numbers ended up looking fairly decent by the end of the year & he was still in the top 200 albums for the YTD charts.

Does it not bode well for GT with so few stations adding now or is this to be expected? Can anyone explain what's happening? I know nothing about numbers, but this seems such a decline from previous add days. No this is not necessarily a problem. Right now we are in a period away from the original impact date and before the song has climbed high on the charts so a lull in adds is to be expected. Adds are only really something to focus on around the impact date because it is usually a good gauge of how radio is responding to the song. But spins are what is important and the fact is that a station can add a song and NEVER spin it just as easily as they can spin a song they never add. So spins are much more important. GT has just gotten in to the top 30 in CHR and it hasn't even made the AT 40 countdown yet so there are stations that really aren't looking at it yet. What we need now is for the stations that are already spinning the song to ramp up their spins and that is happening. If you are not used to following the numbers game then my advice would be just ignore the stuff about adds because unless you really know what's up it doesn't really tell you anything. GT is doing fine and Tuesday's have been the lowest spin count days of the week. Monday's update was a little weird but I think there may have been some syndicated program last Monday that fell off yesterday so the update was weird. Today's update was fine. Thanks for the explanation!

Billboard agrees with HDD: James Taylor Heading for His First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 "...Other albums on course for significant debuts include Adam Lambert's The Original High (which could do 35,000), Hilary Duff's Breathe In. Breathe Out. (25,000) and Nate Ruess' Grand Romantic (25,000)." www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6598420/james-taylor-first-number-1-album-billboard-200?utm_source=twitter&mobile_redirection=falseBTW, "Other albums on course for significant debuts" includes albums with predicted debuts of 25,000. Just a few years ago, significant would have meant over 100,000 but NOT anymore. I wonder what the debut sales numbers for TOH will be for the rest of the world. It certainly would be nice if TOH debuts at #1 in many countries.

Well GT didn't make the Subway Fresh Buzz song but it's ok because IT DEBUT'S ON THE COUNTDOWN AT #40 so no worrying about loosing spins from AT 40 anymore. Just remember that when Saturday rolls around it's important to keep up the request for SNOL so that GT keeps getting those 2 spins. ETA: Link for countdown thread at Pulse pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/150464/american-top-40-june-2015ETA: I guess I'm really late to the party, that's what I get for thinking that big numbers news would get posted in the numbers thread. Not deleting since nobody posted it here earlier.
