I hate the media's attempts to to gain hits or stir controversy where there may not even be any! Do we even know for sure that Adam used that exact quote: "I'm over James?" that Shirley Halperin used in her headline or did she just use that for hits and controversy? Was this taped? I'm not saying it's a bad thing if he did, but I'm just wondering if he even used those exact words. The reason I'm wondering is I don't remember Adam ever saying James was his favorite in the first place. Did he simply say to Shirley that Haley was his favorite and he thinks she's the most talented, and Shirley just used that phrase for hits? From the tweets I've read that do come from Adam, he gives his opinion in a much more constructive way. I'd love to see a transcript of that whole interview or a YouTube of it. Does it exist? Did I miss it? Not at all surprised Jim is trying to start something. Best to keep my opinion to myself about him. Opps, lynne, was writing when you posted. Same thoughts. That should be oops. Adam's spelling is rubbing off on me.

I've deleted the news link to the MTV clip. I have no interest in Durbin and thus have only glanced at multiple posts about him on this thread. I thought a media item about Adam that might attract wider attn was noteworthy. I can't delete quotes of the link I posted-I leave that call to others. That's probably smart. Honestly, I think the best thing we can do if Adam keeps coming up in articles during Durbin's press tour is to not even click links to them, and avoid getting into some kind of a pissing match with Durbinators in the comments. It gains Adam nothing, our time would be better spent voting on Billboard and hearteyeing over pics. As Durbin continues His media tour Adam's name is going to be constantly brought up in the media as comparison. This MTV thing makes Durbin look bad and makes Adam look better. Not going to be able to avoid this until Durbin fads away........

Ahh but there are a lot of references to Adam and Adam "being over" Durbin. I've been out of the loop in the posts lately, but I did wonder what ATOP peeps were thinking about the Durbs. He seems like a nice kid, but I'm glad that he didn't make it even as far as Adam because his singing seems just not nearly as "disciplined" or controlled as Adam's--like Cassie said--to me. I want Jim and all these others to STOP trying to start a fight. Adam probably should have said the "I'm over it" comment a bit more clearly and tactfully to mean that the comparisons are getting old (not as some sort of put-down to a kid just starting out in the music biz, which I'm sure he didn't mean). But this James kid also needs to learn grace under pressure with the media. Glad that now the comparisons will probably stop because he's not on the show any more, but I do wish him well though I don't expect his plan to bring hair metal back to succeed. Eagerly awaiting Adam #2, the album which will bring him further into mainstream popularity! Whew, 2 posts in one day! The attitudes of many of the Idolettes that have been voted off is a little strange this year. They seem to think that they have already made it. They are not yet in the same league with anyone who has made an album, but James is going to bring back metal, Stephano is going to win a grammy in a year, Jacob is going to sing with divas. They just seem to be a bit more delusional than in years past. On Jim, I have been watching his Idol Party show and Cantiello is not a big Durbin fan. He has said many times that Adam is the better performer. And yes, Jim is just stirring up stuff because it amuses him. IMO, He did worst things in the Jacob Lusk interview. He is just trying to get these guys to say things that he can make fun of later. Jim is a mean girl wrapped up in men's clothing.

they were not physical blows. definitely not. neil credited adam with winning the battle. score 1 for adam. I believe the uncle's response shown above was posted on the page with the fight. I kind of took this as it was COULD YOU EVER MANAGE TO INTERACT WITH HUMAN BEINGS ON A BASE LEVEL THAT DOESN’T MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE A FUCKING SHITHEEL?" Surprisingly enough, I was the one with the mild shot across the bow and he was the one reducing me to splinters. So it turned into us trading blows for the sole purpose of cutting the deepest. He totally won, which sucked he meant adam won b/c of the comeback statement. "blows..cutting the deepest" = statements that cut to the bone. this all happened while they were driving. how could the blows be physical? from what i remember, it started over neil not having the proper directions to the destination. edit: i'm kinda sad that anyone would believe there was a physical fight. wow.

This is all too funny. Cassie, I was just with my cello teacher. I was talking with her about Adam (I want to learn to play WWFM on the cello). Since I don't even know how to play some of the notes he hits, it will be awhile. :-/ If you have a minute, I have a favor to ask. I wanted to tell her about Adam's voice/range, but I didn't know just what to say. Can you give me a little blurb? My teacher is quite skilled at many instruments, does composing, etc. so, she would be able to "get" a technical explanation. If you don't have time, I totally understand. Thanks! Ooo, interesting challenge. I'll get to work on it. BBL Don't know if you are still around, but here is my attempt. It is a bit longer than a "little blurb" but will it help? What is it about Adam Lambert’s voice that makes it so special? It’s many things, some tangible and some ethereal. The first thing many comment on is his range. Recordings of his voice have him singing as low as a Bb2 or a C3 (the C below middle C) and as high as A5 (close to two octaves above middle C), in full head voice, not falsetto. There are even a couple of brushes with a Bb5. Most singers are happy with a two octave range, and Lambert routinely exceeds that in performance. But range is nothing without tone or timbre. Lambert has a pure, crystal, ringing tone to his voice throughout his range. His voice abounds with harmonics that enhance the richness of the tone. (Some even think we unconsciously respond to these harmonics resonating in our own bodies. His voice ‘feels’ good.) At will, he can darken or lighten the tone, warm it with vibrato or pierce it with a straight sound. He can seamlessly blend his tone up and down his entire range so that one cannot detect where he shifts from chest, to mixed, to head register. He can make his voice sound light and lilting, floating on the notes, or powerful and dramatic using both his head and chest register way into his upper range. People say that he belts or screams, but that is inaccurate. There is no strain, no push, no sound of effort when he wails a high note. The power comes from his use of the natural full resonance of his body and his excellent breath support in a most relaxed manner. Another notable thing about Lambert is his ability to sing multiple styles or genres convincingly. Coming from a musical theater background, he can sing in the “legitimate” style of a Broadway star. Because of his years of serious vocal training, he can sing in a convincing operatic style as well. Few classically trained singers can shift their style to sound convincing doing pop, blues or hard rock, but Lambert assails each of these styles like a natural. Gone are the formal tones of opera, and present is the slightly gruff, raw grit of a rock singer. And he can do jazz riffs with the best of them. Underlying this ability is the physiology he was born with --- the physiology of a great singer. Just like a beautifully crafted cello has a rich, full-bodied, honeyed resonance, so does his body. But, it is his years of training, practice and study that allow him to make the most of his instrument. To know how to shape it, how to support it, how to bend notes, elongate phrases, articulate words, add crescendos and diminuendos, and craft the song into one that touches us emotionally. Just like the cello sounds best when played by a technically accomplished musician who has great interpretation abilities. That’s what is so remarkable about Adam Lambert’s voice. As to his ability as a performer and entertainer, we’ll save that for another day.

A different level? That's the problem when others (referring to the AI judges here) constantly wrap you in rainbows whether you deserve it or not. Suddenly a casual, mildly negative comment becomes the equivalent of flaying you alive.
Adam never insulted James--in fact, he's been quite complimentary. (More so than I would have been in his shoes.) We all go through phases of liking and disliking Idol contestants as they pass through the process. I'll admit it--I even liked Gokey's voice in the very beginning. (Don't hit me!) Adam has the same right as any of us to cool on a contestant.
