iHeart is having their semi annual summit in LA right now. This one is called "UpFronts." That was where the news about Swift's new single came from. Each label does a presentation and tells about what is coming up and what they are focusing on. Here is the WBR summary from yesterday. Warner Brothers
iHEARTMEDIA Pres./National Programming PlatformsTOM POLEMAN and PREMIERE NETWORKS & MEDIABASE/iHEARTRADIO EVP/Music & Partner Integrations ALISSA POLLACK presented EVP/Head Of Promotion PETER GRAY and SVP/Promotion DAVID DYER with an award for "Most Adds In Mediabase History" representing the 156 adds received in one week for JASON DERULO's "Want To Want Me."
Their music presentation began with a live performance by KAYA STEWART of "I'm In Love With A Boy" - backed by a 14 person choir. After the song, GRAY invited the audience to check out her follow-up single "Let's Split" and also played the NICO & VINZ song "That's How You Know" and ADAM LAMBERT's "Ghost Town." GRAY also referenced upcoming music from DURAN DURAN and discussed new music coming from the label's acts FOALS, GARY CLARK, JR and ANDRA DAY.

I found it very interesting that they introduced a new single from Kaya. Her current single just came out, but obviously is not progressing as they had hoped. For me, this drives home the point that WBR knows things we don't know about Ghost Town's potential. Sometimes fans (not here, not you guys, but on twitter) think they know everything that is going on & question the label. I guess some of it is PTSD from FURCA! I think we they, just need to relax and realize that Adam is in good hands this time around!

Maybe interesting, Nica, but not sad, actually. A song that was high will always have a higher AI as it drops than the songs around it, like DJ Snake's. And 1D is 1D, they are the biggest "group" in the world. For some reason, last Thursday, GT had a big bullet. yes, among all the gloomy updates of last week, there was one good one and it was Thursday. So, today's negative was expected. ETA: Jablea, missed your post when i posted this! Great job!! We were warned about the negative bullet and the reasons for it. Still looks to me that GT will regain #25 as Snake and One Direction will cancel each other out. I don't remember about Wiz. I imagine it is eligible to be recurrent so that could take GT to 24. And in a best case most unlikely scenario, 23 if Hey Mama drops below 10. So rooting for Rachel, Demi and Ed! Can't really stomach 1D or especially Adam Levine shooting up there but if it advances GT I will swallow it. But I don't think they could - at least not this week. I don't think anything below GT at the moment other than 1D is a threat unless it goes really flat again. Next week we get at least one more recurrent - Andy Grammar. So yes, I think WBR knows what they are doing and GT continues a very slow creeping up close to top 20. Don't know if it will get there as it gets really tight and competitive once these other songs have dropped. Might take TS a while to get below 10

Kaya broke the record for most adds debut week for her very first single and it started to go up the Top 40 chart but then it crashed and burned pretty quickly. It's on its way down, down, down the chart right now and it never got as high as Ghost Town did.

I think In love With a Boy had a fast burnout rate. For me it did, anyway. LOVED it the first few listens, then it got annoying fast! But anyway, my point was really not to focus on Kaya, but to point out that WBR is not pushing it, instead releasing another single. But they are sticking with GT! So, they know "stuff!"

After Guetta, the next to go recurrent is Andy Grammer. Both Guetta and Andy should happen next week, the 16th. I think by that time 5th Harmony might also be out of the Top 10. They are long overdue for recurrency! IMO, anything other than a possible 25, this week, is out of the question. BUT NEXT WEEK WILL BE FABULOUS!!!!!!!!

I doubt 5H will be out yet though... and it's fabulous to see WB is supporting GT the way they do! TY for that iHeart summit update!

Ok, I'm making predictions because it's fun right? So tomorrow on Top 40 we will get a negative bullet, somewhere around -40 but the spins will be around a +50. Why will the bullet be negative? Because last week on Thursday it was positive. That's a bit of a flippant answer but based on the math that's what I see. I've been watching that metric and I really don't see how the bullet predicts anything. The spin increase however actually makes sense to me. So let's look at the spin increase so far this week and see if we can predict where that might take us by Sunday. Mon -7 Tue +81 Wed +60 Now you might think when you add those up that it might equal the move, ie the number of spins this week over last week. It doesn't. Until Sunday that is, when the 7 day rolling numbers measure the same days the spin+ numbers do. And knowing this then we can make predictions based on how many more actual spins it gets each day than it got last week on that day. So let me add some estimated spin+ to our week. Thu +53 Fri +50 Sat +20 Sun +20 Adding the predicted spins to the actual count we already have from Mon-Wed and we get a 277 move for 3450 total spins for the week. I'm basing Thur/Fri on the already large spin+ we got on Tues/Wed but being very conservative at 20 fewer additional spins a day. Sat/Sun is a bit of a toss up as these have been volatile days for GT so I'm assuming moderate growth and the same number of spins we got as last week on the syndicated shows. I think I'm lower than it will actually be as that's only a 8.7% growth and I think he'll be closer to 10% growth which will be 3500 spins. You can see my math on my google sheet at docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CY93U5HQ3BZ95hupvY_o1GrzTC-dIDvmPPu7AdmJKlU/edit#gid=606099817 Find the right tab and scroll all the way to the right. My formatting is not nearly as elegant as some of the others who track numbers but it works for me. What do you think? Am I high? Low? Which days would you change? nice, realistic prediction (of course we know today came in at 36, but we can gain those 17 spins on Sat or Sun). The trends for all indicators are quite consistent, with AI having something that looks like a "correction" in the last week.
