JMHO on the issues brought up above.

If Adam lurks anywhere besides Twitter, it’s probably articles about himself. And it’s hard for me to see the craziness and negativity and fanwars run amok there sometimes. I usually don’t look, because it makes me miserable. Hopefully, Adam has forcefields up when he reads.

In terms of what I tweet, Adam will never hear anything from me that isn’t positive and encouraging (and sometimes silly). I sure wish that other fans would do the same, but I have no delusions of being able to control them. I don’t spend my time on Twitter telling other people what to do, and simply unfollow people who tweet in a manner I find unpleasant. I don’t often look at Adam’s @ replies because I don’t need the heartburn.

As for what is on a fan forum like this, I see it as a place where people who love and appreciate Adam can come together to speculate, daydream, flail over the good stuff, and have discussions over the not-so-good stuff. There will be negative press, and I’d rather discuss that openly and get different perspectives, rather than ignore it or fret over it in silence. It helps me process by talking things through and reading what other people think. What do I know, right? but I think Adam would be cool with that. If he lurks here, and I don’t think he does, he’d see a place that is filled with love for him, and also filled with people who are open to learning from each other and a free exchange of ideas.

That being said, beating dead horses or working ourselves into fits over things we can’t change is hardly useful. And usually there’s someone who can gently steer us in a different direction.

I’m putting my own forcefields up, because I think we’ll be dealing with the Durbin thing for a while. AI may be over soon, but he'll be doing press all through the Idol tour, and now that they've manufactured this drama, he'll be asked about it constantly, I'm sure.
