It will do well, IMO, % wise. Many venues are already almost sold out and the tickets only went on sale a week ago. Of course, many venues are 1/2 the size of the venues of previous seasons. Because last season was so bad, Idol downsized many of this summer's venues.
It won't gross as much as seasons 1-8, because the venues are smaller. But the percents of sellouts or almost, will be high.
It's a diverse group and most of them can sing. There's no Adam Lambert among them, but I think it will be an entertaining 3 hours and will get good word of mouth reviews.

Adam fans can get pretty organized behind an idea when they set their minds to it or if GNAFL asks. I really wish we could get everyone to boycott this "rivalry" crap. It elevates JD and cheapens Adam. IMHO :(
