I think you would enjoy this article I read recently, it almost made me concerned that I had two boys but realized they would make their way in the world well and would be prepared for and benefit from having strong women to interact with. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2010/07/the-end-of-men/8135/Again thanks for the discussion , you guys are beautiful strong women. Really interesting article! Thanks for bringing it over. My daughter, one of those bright, strong women, will be 30 in September. She and her friends navigate their world very differently than did most women of my generation. Here are my initial thoughts on that article on yesterday's thread: www.adamtopia.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=daily&thread=324&page=40justjill, your post cracked me up. That's an interesting concept, and one I think many people have expressed. Maybe people weren't with no music in their lives, but I've read posts from many who had become apathetic or very passive listeners. I know I had been for years, despite being quite into music in my late teens/early 20s. Ironically, I never stanned musicians and met many rock stars during college and after. I was totally, "Ho-hum ..." while other girls my age would sell their mothers for a chance to hook up with a rock star. I am also the type who never cared for covers. I've ALWAYS preferred the first version of any song I heard. Until ... GNAFL. He is the first and only person who has ever made me like covers of songs more than the original. Even songs I've known and loved for years. You mentioned resonance. I think it's largely that, but I also think it's how he finesses and shades notes. Even when you totally anticipate what he's going to do (as you've listened 8,972 times) the result still completely pays off every freaking time. I'm always amazed how I can hear "Feeling Good" countless times and never not be blown away by it. It still makes my jaw drop with it's absolute perfection.

and it is FYE not WWFM. FYE the album was released in Greece months after the US release. WWFM is a hit. I think because it was a top 10 Billboard hit. GNL was released the same date with US and certainly this will happen with #2 too. I am not an expert, but I feel that Adam is treated as one of the stars and as one of the future superstars. American idol has nothing to do with it. We don't see AI in Greek TV, although they broadcasted S8 last summer in a small local station on a daily basis. Well at least they had 1 viewer, me. Gelly did you know that? I ordered GNL from a Greek site. It has Adam' s FYE, FYE tour edition and GNL. The only other idol is K. Clarkson but is has her first 3 albums, not the last one. There is Kesha, Lady Gaga, Adele, K.Perry, Br.Mars...

Just for grins, here is a video from SNL last night. It's Gaga and Timberlake and someone who could use some help from the Urban Dictionary JT killed last night. He is soooo good and soooo funny. Gaga was awesome too. She is so much more accessible when she's just having fun. Her BTW was a bit of a WTF and one thing about the routine I became more and more glad about is that Adam doesn't uses automaton dancers devoid of any of their own personality. That has long been a practice with "the divas," and I'm finding it really gets on my nerves. And I'm constantly reminded of this episode of "Will & Grace," with JLo. JT is so multi-talented. Gaga did a good job. I liked Taylor Swift whenmthey had her on as well I'd love to see Adam as a musical guest on SNL, and even doing skits, (he is pretty good with comedic timing as evidenced on the best week ever, the Nikka Costa music box thing, and many interviews,) but I'm not so sure about the direction the skits would take.

After looking at all the great photos of Adam and Sauli lately, just love how Sauli also has freckles...something else they have in common Yes, they seem to have sooo much in common. One of the articles I read about Sauli in the last few days mentioned he did the hair and makeup for fellow BB contestants. I remember Adam did makeup for his friends for prom. Do you think they do each other's hair and makeup? I know... it's none of my business...... Never mind!

And just so you know there were surely at least 5 of us haha you, me, my daughter and two other Greek people that they follow me on twitter and one of them lives also in Thessaloniki. They didnt know about it and I informed them Also WWFM was N.1 in the radio station I listen to, for many weeks, ROCK RADIO 104.7 and they still play it. They also play Mad World, Sure Fire Winners and FYE. And the funny thing is that this station is mostly a rock/hard rock station, very few pop artists.

D'ya know, I was reading some comments earlier today on the Kris/Adam leg of this and saw people were saying how Adam had just copied the Gary Jules version of Mad World. I really had to check again and I was, as before, bored witless by the GJ rendition. How can anyone not hear the difference ???. I was singing it in my head, waiting for the interesting stuff, but it never arrived; just 4 minutes of monotony (in the truest sense of the world). I think it's time that I made an admission here (please don't all scream at me, or worse still evict me!): I don't DO music; never have (ask any of my co-travellers over the years) I do words, and people. ** So for me, hearing Adam's interpretation of a song is in most cases, the first time I've taken any notice of it. Therefore, to me they are always the best. I've checked back a few times and I'm always right : . I remember reading an article with Monte where he said that, during CV times, if he got stuck on a melody, he'd sing a vague version down the phone to Adam, and he'd come back with the finished product. He may not be credited with many original melodies, but he sure knows how to fine-tune and enhance to achieve a memorable result. *** Scroll alertI realised how bald a statement that sounds, but I can't explain it any better. I really don't understand it myself. That's not to say I don't enjoy various particular performances (eg Michael Ball - Empty Chairs) but I've never (before) used music as a means of filling a silence. I'd sooner listen to news programmes, sports chat, witty convos while on a journey. How to explain this ???. I can't really; I think perhaps It's something to do with resonance. As Scearly said in her first post, I FEEL his voice. Add to that all the exemplary, endearing and just plain loveable character traits, and that's me hooked, forever. God that's a lot of words...........sorry, but I've always felt like a bit of a stowaway on this glittery rocket. I do so enjoy and esteem the knowledge, wit, fun and camaraderie here on ATOP. Don't banish me pleeeeeease Banish you? Whaaaat???? I LOVE words, and words look good on Adam, (words with music, words in interviews, words with actions, twatty words, words other's write and speak and tweet about him.). It's all good! I feel them with you.

Did y'all see this pic from JustJared's site? Adam and Sauli in the background possibly probably kissing but we'll never know because of the random dude who just so happened to feel that taking a pic of the birthday boy and his cake was more important than the needs of the fandom. WTAF! well.. I have to agree we would have finally obtained the "elusive" macking pic.. had it not been for the random guy wanting a pic of the cake.. *sob* I enlarged this pic to oh.. *kickingtoeinsand**lookingaround* 780% and that is for sure what they must be doing.. yep.. you can see Saulis head just above the camera and Adam seems to be bending down a bit.. and anything else would just be weird.. you don't get that close to just talk.. DUH... *nowIfeelweird* 8-)*runningofftodosomechoresorsomething*

Bringing this piece of awesomeness over from late on yesterday's thread. That's a whole lot of work that you have done already - well done *round of applause*. Atopper's I LURVE knowing where everybody is from (it helps) and I truly believe that we have one of the most diverse, international memberships of any Adam board out there. Please let JustKaren know your location, or if you are uncomfortable with that - then just a general area I'm sure would suffice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------
The quotey thing didn't work..sorry.. Got a quick chance to take a look at the map. Thank you, JustKaren!! And Catz for bringing over! It is absolutely fascinating how diverse Atop is and Karen's info is not complete yet. I see Lanat in the Bermuda triangle. Actually, I'd probably be right at home there..I get lost walking around the block..LOL Sure are lots of you paddling around in the North Pacific, tho. Got yer wetsuits?..kinda cool up there
