great grandson!! Holy cow, karen....congratulations!! (and what a lovely granddaughter you have!) The one soon to come is my second one! My first great grandson just turned 9, and has a lovely mom too ... :D And just to make things really confusing, three of my eight grandchildren are younger than my first great grandson! ETA: This is the granddaughter who is an Adam fan, she went to two GNT's with me.

(((((((( Tinafea)))))))) JustKarenCongratulations! What a beautiful girl! I am constantly amazed by how much joy grandchildren are! I just have one grandson. He is 1 1/2 , and I love spending time with him. Some more good news to add. As some of you know, he was born with prune belly syndrome, a syndrome where stomach muscles never develop, and that affects the bladder and kidneys. His kidneys were damaged before birth, and when he was born his kidney function was at 50 %. You can live with this function, but doctors said it was likely he would need a transplant in childhood, and if not, then definitely when he went into adolescence because of the demands his growing body will place on his kidneys at that time. He also had many other bladder issues, and his parents were told he might need some physical therapy to be able to sit, walk etc... Well, the bladder surgeries have been successful. He faces another big surgery in a few months that will complete this correction and stretch the few stomach muscles he does have across his abdomen. He has hit all his marks without physical therapy and is a very active little boy, running and climbing on everything. And the latest good news is that his kidney function has improved, and for now, at least, they are functioning at 100%! This guy was born during Adam's FS concert. I was supposed to be there, but RL had other plans for me. I watched and listened to Adam's live stream instead, and re-watched the videos that came from it over and over, and Adam and his music, and many of you, helped me have periods of peace during that anxious time to collect myself, and be strong for my daughter in the middle of a birth, and a beginning, that was both miraculously joyful and heartbreakingly difficult, all at the very same time. None of us ever knows how long we have, or what waits around the next corner, and so I am learning to live with hope and gratitude for every moment given, and when I have the energy, to try to make some "magical" ones happen. Prepare. Create. Love. Some of those magical moments happened for me this summer with my grandson. Some moments are so hard, and I wish all of you having those difficult ones right now peace and love and strength and hope. Oh yeah, and more music and concerts and dancing with friends and flailing together in perfect understanding, lol, for Adam 2! <333

Lynne
I remember the drama of the birth during Fantasy Springs, we were all off having a fantastic time in Palm Springs and you were becoming a Grandma ... how wonderful that your little boy has overcome so much and is doing so well.
It's amazing what modern medicine can accomplish ... my 9-year-old grandson above went thru a little drama at birth, they had trouble getting his breathing started, and then a few hours later one of his lungs collapsed. They helicoptered him to a larger hospital and he spent several days in the pediatric ICU ... the first time I held him he had tubes and wires everywhere! It seemed surreal, all the other babies in ICU were tiny preemies, he was a big 8-pounder! But all is OK now, he is very athletic, plays little league baseball, swims, etc.
Yes, grandchildren are a joy ... I'll be spending this afternoon with all of mine ... two of my three children, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, and the one in utero ...
