I will not comment. I will not comment. I will not comment. .... Oh, hell. One more time.
James' comments sound like the athlete's "trash talking" about the opposition. It generates a buzz and gets attention. It's some sort of throw back macho challenge the alpha thing. And, be prepared..... we are gonna be reading and hearing it over and over again all summer long while the Idol kids tour. The media is gonna be following like vultures, and looking for the carnage if this tour tanks like last year. Whether the country girl or the country guy win, the last two acts of the show are not gonna be thrilling, original, outrageous, visually compelling, provocative, or scream inducing. Comparisons between the "Durbinators" and the "Glamberts" and the vocals are gonna be the best opportunities for hits and readership. And, since James is soooo easy to set up to make a ridiculous or incendiary statement about Adam, it will happen over and over again. We are all gonna have to just tough it out.
The real test of James' claims will come with the release of Adam Unlocked and James' yet to be officially announced renaissance of metal album. My predictions:
1. Adam Unlocked is gonna be critically and popularly acclaimed and cement his place as a phenomenal singer, entertainer, and (hopefully) song writer. He will leave the Idol and Glam labels behind and be acknowledged and embraced.
2. James will NOT be releasing a big label heavy metal rock album. Despite his Idol exposure, the industry will not support it. There is absolutely zilch evidence that the record buying public is clamoring for a metal revival. The metal heads that do exist will likely shun an Idol or download the music illegally. There just isn't any profit in it for TPTB.
3. James may release some kind of rock/pop album on a major or semi-major label. It will be highly enhanced with auto-tune and other electronic tweaks. It will have limited success. Male rock/pop is just not happening these days. We all recognize that Adam is the major exception, and it is only because he is so exceptional. James will probably be one of those Idols who make one album and get dropped. Fading away to small gigs with an alt band.
4. If James insists on making a metal album, his only option will be to get released by TPTB and go the indie route. He'll have success at some level in the indie market, but never be a major player. Even going the indie route it's gonna be a tough sell. Does he have the moxie to court and woo the producers and win a chance? Questionable.
My hope for this summer is that we can ignore the baiting game the media will play with James vs. Adam. I don't want to deal with it. It makes me cranky and has no positive purpose. Since the game WILL be played in much of the media, I hope that Q3 will create a sub-forum for this "battle." An Idol 10 tour discussion group? A "media looking for hits" page? Something so that I don't have to see it unless I go looking for it. Hey, I can ask, right?

'GAGA’S AMAZING AMAZON SALE: Today’s unprecedented sale of the new Lady Gaga album, Born This Way, for 99 cents at Amazon has the disc threatening the digital download record of 288k set by Coldplay’s Viva la Vida. Label chief Steve Berman’s thorough campaign has the record blowing out everywhere, with first-week sales estimates ranging from 750k to a high of a million.' Is this why they sold it so cheap? Hmmm looks like it does cont towards sales?? Or does it? Hmmm. Well I still wouldn't shell out 99 cents for that steaming pile of crap. She can try me again in a few yrs when she gets her creative juices back and stops trying too hard.

Lambert, who was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category for "Whataya Want From Me," is currently working on his next album. The date is Jan 24th 2011, so it is not a new thing? How come it came out now...? Or has it just been undiscovered earlier. I don't remember when I first saw it, but it's been out for a while. It sounds so good, I screencapped it. I might need to take it down, but you can right-click-save it this way.

Gaga is going for legendary. No one will remember how it got to be the largest record sales, just that it did. Gaga is a hoopla magnet.

I just liked how they described him on the site and they he was so prominently positioned on the front page in one of my favorite photos (Anything by Lee Cherry) LOL okay . I think I was not yet member at that time, just a quick visitor once and a while. Sorry .

This whole deal was done by Amazon to promote their MP3 store and their cloud player of whatever it is. I think they majorly underestimated the demand. It was a very good deal for one of the most popular current artists and it spread like wildfire on twitter. Q3 comment -- the number is reported in SoundScan but does not count for Billboard chart placement and is not classified as a "Retail Sale". I reconfirmed this with SoundScan again today.
It does count as a wholesale shipment toward RIAA Certification.
