I used to be fan. I thought the offer was over and forked out a whopping $6.99 (now I look like a sucker, lol, j/k). The article is very interesting and should be repeated probably on every page of a site that is battling about units sold and chart ranking as the be-all end-all for an artists success. I thought this paragraph particularly telling and it only bodes well for Adam: Keep in mind, for an artist like Gaga, album sales ultimately represent a small slice of her revenue pie. What's most important to Gaga is that fans are familiar with and excited by her new material. That way she can make money leveraging those fans, be it through a partnership with a brand that wants to reach said fans, or concert ticket sales. It isn't inconceivable to think of a day soon when Gaga and other superstar acts will use radio and social networks and giveaways to create massive international hits -- not defined by sales, but by the number of fans that are familiar with and excited by the music. I think a not only solid, but extremely invested and loyal fan base is definitely and ace up any artist's sleeve right now. |
